Introduction Post
Jan. 31st, 2005 10:44 pmIn honour of Worldwide Journal Commenting Day, and since I've been updating my friendslist, I thought I'd do a post for people who don't normally comment to say hi. Also for people who do normally comment. So, pretty much just for everybpdy, really.
Getting To Know You...
If you're wondering who I am - that's okay, I don't recognise a lot of the names on my flist either, hence this post - I go by Doyle, I'm 22, I'm an astrophysics student and I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I'm most active in the Buffyverse fandom, which I can never call Buffy/Angel without getting it mixed up with the pairing, and most of my posts are me blathering on about some aspect of that. The rest of the posts are usually me whinging about an assignment/thesis/presentation/nebula spectrum, though most of those are locked, when I remember. I obsessively-compulsively organize things, so if you're looking for communities, fic recs, whatever, I'll try my best to help you find it or point you to someone who can.
Current favourite pairings and characters are Dawn, Nina, Angel/Spike, Buffy, Riley, Kennedy, Gunn, and I've been thinking a lot about Eve. This changes a lot. I think every character has been my favourite at some point, and it all seems to run nicely on a subconscious rota system. Non-Buffyverse things I watch: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Father Ted, Black Books, Teachers, The Simpsons, Futurama, random bits of anime and Farscape and Battlestar Galactica when my housemates are watching it.
I'm more or less stealing this from what I can remember of
wisteria_'s introduce-yourself posts. All the questions below are optional and for people who, like me, are more comfortable filling in forms or ticking ticky boxes. If you just want to say hi, that'd be good too.

Favourite pairings/characters/bulletproof fic kinks/anything else you want to tell me:
Any burning questions? (Either to me or about fandom in general, since JennyO's post on newbies made me wonder how many people are wondering what the hell a BNF is or how to make the
community symbol or whatever)
Anything else:

Who Am I Form:
My name’s Elizabeth. I change my surname for fic, but i’m rather attached to my first name.
I’m 21 and reside in Massachusetts. My family lives in the Boston area and i go to schook in the central/western part of the state. I love the Northeast USA and conveniently UPenn is my top choice grad program.
The Whedonverse is so my One True Fandom. (Saying Buffy/Angel always reminds me of the pairing as well, but the existence of Firefly means i can't say "Whedonverse" to refer to the universe Buffy & Angel et al live in because they are not canonically the same universe as Firefly, and the emphatic implication is that they are different universes -- though of course one can write crossovers anyway -- and saying something like the Sunnydaleverse seems to exclude the whole Angel series). Having watched TNG full-through (save the movies) i’m now enjoying the crack_van recs, but i will never be obsessive about any fandom like i am about Whedonverse i think. I read the Harry Potter books but am rarely interested in the characters/world enough to pursue fic. I’m a canon-whore, so there are lots of things i would be interested in reading fanfic for if i had all the canon under my belt (Voyager, X-Files, CSI, L’Engleverse, etc.). And i’m getting sucked into reading PoTC fic even though when i rewatched the movie recently i thought “Fanon makes shipping these characters believable, even though when i’m in the canon it just isn’t plausible to me” (which is also how i felt when i read HP Book 5 and then read some Harry/Draco fic). Really anything wherein i know the full canon i’m willing to read fic for, but i’m so used to Whedonverse where i’m so hardcore that i have a real feel for the characters and what they were like at different moments canon and get lots of subtle references that when i read in other fandoms i feel like i’m missing so much.
I'm too much of a snob to have any "bullet-proof" kink, but i adore the whole reverse-Lolita thing (young girl seducing an older man or at least being the active/dominant party in the relationship) and siblingcest. Power play’s a more general kinks, though i’m also often a big sucker for tenderness.
I’m a big fan of Buffy/Spike, Dawn/Spike, Dawn/Kit. Would like to see more of Kit and Cassie. Love Tara. Really, eventually there will be mini-manifestos on lots of characters and ships (and story arcs and nonfandom opinions) on my website. I could talk for hours.
