Also, we watched most of Once More With Feeling, leading me to reminisce about seeing Buffy for the very first time ever. My main impression from the episode was: Spuffy and Giles. Giles, Giles, Giles. Giles is utterly gorgeous in this episode, and he had me at hello. And I don't care how many times he uses the word 'father' in his song, I was (and am) convinced he wanted to shag Buffy. My friend Hazel watched it and tried to persuade me that Giles and Tara would be a beautiful couple, though, so it could all be a personal interpretation thing.

...maybe Giles wanted to shag Buffy *and* Tara? (I mean, dude. Tara sure needs some love right around then.) Setting aside of course the *vast* majority of universes where Giles is Not Very Het At All, I can see the three of them being -- well. Interesting and incredibly attractive.

Pardon. I seem to be drooling at the pretty, pretty pictures forming in my head...

Here's how I see it: Giles whisks Buffy and Tara away to Europe. Dawn's fine by herself since she's living with Anya, who's all newly single since Xander became Sweet's queen. Spike's... somewhere. Probably doing some patrolling in between taking Dawn to strip bars and teaching her to cheat at poker. Meanwhile, Giles and Buffy and Tara are having lots of sex in Paris.

And thus the perfect Christmas present was born. ;}

Um, Oz can drop by with baguettes, yes?

Yeah, see, I started watching way back before the Spuffy ever happened, way back around Lover's Walk, and I turned to my friend, sitting up on the bed and said 'What the hell is she doing with that broody dude? That blonde guy is way hotter. They should make out.'

And with that, a Spuffista was born. I got all mad at her the next week when the hot blonde guy wasn't on the show and I had to settle for that short guy who played the guitar who wasn't hot but he was really funny.

Ahaha. Must be an Irish thing, we like our men compact. I think Oz is close to the top of the hot Buffy guys list for just about everyone in my household. Including the guys (one of whom described it as "he's a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a Rubix Cube").

Which may be why Doyle/Oz is one of my very favorite brainpictures. Also, I want to move into your household. Yes.

Oh! Irish question for you - I was once visiting with one of my elderly neighbours and took my tea as I usually do, with milk and sugar but very dark nonetheless. And she said, You must be Irish. Here's what I'm wondering: Is that an Irish-*American* thing or an Irish thing or was she just nutty?

That's how I take tea (apart from the sugar), but [livejournal.com profile] thecount_ha and [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast view my kind of tea with fear and loathing... so possibly a specifically regional Irish thing?

Neat!
I'm drinking lapsang souchong and swimming in G/Ohappy of it all. But the gf's viewing it with, yeah. Fear and loathing at the milk.

Mmm, lapsang souchong! I like my tea very strong with sugar and milk as well (though I'm trying to avoid milk somewhat these days). The other day I had lapsang souchong with lemon and sugar, and it was delicious...

*g* The first time I saw OMWF, my tape was missing the previouslies. I knew nothing about the show. I managed to go a week without realizing that Spike was a vampire...

Are these things mutually exclusive? *scratches noggin*

Heeeee! Also, hi! Also, swmbo and I really want to go to the Quor'toth Con and we want you to go tooooo so that we can squeal about Connor and Holtz and such together! Yes?

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-11-08 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
:checks dates: I *should* be able to go. Keeping everything crossed...

[identity profile] ros-fod.livejournal.com 2004-11-08 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Coolio Julio! I think we're going to try and get tickets this weekend, so I'll email you about maybe bringing you in on it so that we can sit together and all that. Yayayayayayayay!

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-11-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'll see if I can rope [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast into coming with me.

[identity profile] ros-fod.livejournal.com 2004-11-08 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Wooooooot! That would be *so* awesome.

I don't know if he wants to shag her I just maintain that she is not good enough for her. Tara might be, but you know who my OTP is. I have developed a taste for E/G and J/E/G but that could be just because the writers are so good.

:sigh: he is just lovely in that episode.

Giles is fine in OWMF. And, dude, he wanted Buffy. I've no doubt in my mind about that.

[identity profile] moireach.livejournal.com 2004-11-08 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
<considers> I bet it's possible to do a fairly convincing reading of Giles' departure based on the fact that he wanted Buffy and freaked out. It'd make more sense than the crappy excuse he gave. <is still mad at Giles for leaving> <pets the pretty, angsty Giles/Buffy>

What he says is he wishes he could play the father. His life would be considerably more simple if he could pretend to be her father, but he is incapable of that because he wants to bend her over a table and shag her senseless he simply doesn't see himself as her father at all.

Sorry for kneejerk B/G reaction... *grin*

*g* I love wiggle room.

::leaps in with token Giles/Willow comment::

I've always found it interesting that the only person Willow duets with in OMWF is Giles (in "I've Got a Theory" and "Walk Through the Fire"), even though of course she dances with Tara...

Good point!
