Spoilers

As someone else already pointed out on BAPS: Spike says he's going to drive Angel "starkers".

:jaw drops:

I assume someone on the writing staff incorrectly thinks this is British slang for crazy, when in fact it means that Spike intends to make Angel *naked*...

Doing some more archiving for slayerfanfic.com: one big peeve. More than the thousands of crappy Mary Sues and songfics, one thing that annoys me is character names being misspelled. I was reading a Spuffy story the other day which I really enjoyed, but I counted four characters whose names were consistently misspelled, and it drove me nuts. The one I'm archiving right now is an Angel/Highlander crossover. Now... I've never seen Highlander, but I'm 99% sure Duncan's last name is not spelled McLoud.

I don't think I can express how much I love you. Dude, you always make me laugh.

How long until we get season 5? Next January? Not soon enough

LOL!
This is the reason I abandoned BtVS fic way back in '99 - 'cause all I could find was stuff which looked like it had been written by a dyslexic twelve year old to whom English was a foreign language.

Well, he's his date. And they try to stick Spike IN Angel. Also, Angel does not object to spanking men, and Spike needs to "get his licks in" with regards to Angel.

In sum: Joss loves me. That is all.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-07-30 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Joss is a big manwhore who loves all us Spangel slashers equally. Though he doesn't love me enough to give me the angsty Connor/Wesley heart to heart I was promised in some fake Home spoilage. (though as my partner in crime/enabler [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast pointed out, "even your parents don't love you that much")

Say, aren't you meant to be spoiler-free? :p

I meant to be.

Lo, I meant to be. Alas. It was not to be.

starkers?! And the slash fans rejoice.

Misspelling's really getting me down lately. Whether it's Larry's last name or the everpopular "Druscilla" and "Zander", it sets my teeth to gnashing.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-07-30 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
I think Zander has to be the worst one out there. Oh, wait, I saw a story that consistently spelled Cordelia "Cordilla", that was bad too...

[identity profile] thenyxie.livejournal.com 2003-07-30 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
*snort* That gives me visions of a Cordelia-armadillo.

Classic. Just classic. You know, call me crazy (or starkers), but I have serious doubts that the person MIGHT have a grip on characterization when they don't know how to spell the character names.

Naw. The worst has to be Terra.
I know she was a bit of an earth mother, but that's taking it a tad far.

Oh, Cordill(i)a's one of my faves! I just came across one, however, that takes the cake since it misspells a canon character's name as well as the name of a classic character: "Druscilla Lolitta". Eeek.

Zander always makes me laugh, ever since I found out it was the name of a type of pike.

[identity profile] paratti.livejournal.com 2003-07-30 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
I noticed that too. The effects of no real Brits on the show looks like we might get some very strange phrases out of Spike and Wes.
But downside of Ghost Spike - no Spike-skin.
*gibbers*

Yeah, it's MacLeod. That drives me nuts too. All you have to do is Google up a semi-official website to get the correct spelling. It takes seconds, yet way too many people just don't bother.

It's Cute Little Shorthand for "stark raving mad", y'see. Only it's not. *cackles evilly*

Doing some more archiving for slayerfanfic.com

I did tell you congrats for this, didn't I? Slayerfanfic was the first place I ever read BtVS fanfic. There are some classic gems buried amongst the wreckage. I'm really glad that this is reopening. But wow! What an undertaking.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-07-30 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I love that most of the stories are pre-season 4 Buffy, as I've hardly ever seen any early fanfic. It's fascinating to read the stuff in retrospective and see what got Jossed (all stories dealing with Spike's origins or Angel's life between 1900 and the Becoming flashback to Hemery High, plus most of the stuff dealing with the likes of Willow or Xander's families).

Plus it amuses me that a lot of the B/A I've been archiving is nigh-on identical to much of the schmoopy Spuffy fanfic written six years later...

Mmmppphhhh

*pours concrete in mouth in a determined effort not to respond and thus start shipper war #_____*

C'mon, let's have a shipper war, it'll be fun! :p

Nah, all I meant was, the bad teen-written schmoopy stories are pretty identical. Angsty song lyrics interspersed with about 200 words of Angel or Spike thinking about their love for Buffy, or Buffy thinking about her love for Angel or Spike.
