This week's Torchwood seems to have split my flist; I enjoyed it a lot but have one uber-petty complaint:

"Ever heard of immaculate conception?"

The idea that Mary was born without original sin in order to make her a perfect vessel for Christ? I've certainly heard of it but I'm not sure how it's relevant to Gwen's situation... oh, you mean virginal conception.

I didn't see this on broadcast but I did read people's reactions so I was expecting the worst re: Gwen and Gwen/Rhys, but I was pleasantly surprised. I love them together, I do. I adored Gwen's little 'squee!' face when she woke up and saw her wedding dress.

That sounds awfully familiar.

I adored Gwen's little 'squee!' face when she woke up and saw her wedding dress.

Gwen absolutely stole my heart this episode, Myles did a brilliant job - as did Kai Owen. Their scenes were pure gold, especially at the beginning where Gwen is chewing Rhys up for daring to suggest they postpone whilst simultanously reiterating just how much she loves him. Those two have made me such a Gwen/Rhys shipper. (And when I'm in a fluffy mood, kind of a Jack/Rhys shipper too, there were moments in this ep that had me going 'Awww'.)

Oh and did you see that SJA has been confirmed for a second series?

Eve Myles is brilliant when she's given comedy stuff to do - I loved her in Out of Time last year. And Jack/Rhys would be fluffy comedy gold. There must be a comm, there's one for everything else... (though I can't even find a Gwen/Rhys comm, woe)

I need more SJA nooooow.

Yes, I had a very "I do not think that means what you think it means" moment. But then I was overcome with lols when Gwen and Rhys had to deal with the spawn in a stable.

Team Cardiff does love their King James!

Jack/Rhys = love. Almost as much love as Gwen's squee face.

Jack/Rhys FTW! One of the recent books, The Twilight Streets, has some rather cute bits for them. There should be fic.

Sadly that's a common mistake many people make- which irritates the hell out of me.

Oh, and how would you feel about Jack/Rhys/Gwen?

I'd be all for it provided Ianto wasn't left emo by it all - prefrably if he was off in a threesome of his own with Tosh and Owen.

Ha! Yes, that would work perfectly. Particularly as Ianto could provide some things for Tosh Owen can't in his present state.

It irritates me greatly when people confuse those two things.

I adored Gwen's little 'squee!' face when she woke up and saw her wedding dress.

I watched that three times. I haven't always been a big Gwen fan, but I definitely was in this ep. And the lethal flower bouquet!

Eve Miles' scenes with Kai Owen are consistently the best acting on Torchwood (with apologies to Burn Gorman). I am not a big fan of wedding squee, but I enjoyed the ep for the character stuff. But then, I never hated Gwen OR Gwen/Jack. I hated Rhys quite a lot in S1, but S2 Rhys is win. (Same with Ianto.)

Oh, I loved how happy she looked when she saw her wedding dress too! I was on the fence about the episode as a whole after seeing it once, but a repeat viewing won me over. Great sci-fi, and much hilarity.

My single gripe was when Gwen (and I'm not anti-Gwen, really) leaned in to kiss shapeshift!Jack. I mean, on your wedding day? Really?

I'll just tell myself she knew it was the shapeshifter all along. ;)

Oh, yes! That is annoying, and people do it All The Time. Like mixing up the uncertainty principle and observer effect.
