If you could have me write absolutely anything - genre, fandom, character, rating, whatever - if I'm familiar with it or not, what would it be?
#2
Name a character from one of my fandoms and I'll give you (a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon, (b) a reason he/she sucks, (c) a reason he/she is awesomecakes, (d) five things that never happened to that character or (e) five people that character never fell in love with and why. You pick the character. I pick the letter.

Because she is.
Oh, reasons. Right, well, leaving aside the fact that she's a scientist (as a female scientist I'm biased in favour of Skience Womenz from the start), she has a backstory that I love. Brought up as essentially a princess in a beautiful, privileged environment where there seems to be no concept at all of evil, she's suddenly ripped out of that and left adrift in the universe. Because Traken gets destroyed, and everybody she knew is dead, and the Master's running around wearing her beloved father's face. Bloody hell, that's Ninth Doctor level emo there. And rather than reacting as I would, i.e. by curling into a ball and staying there forever, Nyssa first makes a home for herself in a life she didn't and probably wouldn't have chosen, travelling with the Doctor, and then leaves the only familiar place and people left in the universe to go somewhere where she can do some good.
And yeah, a lot of this doesn't come through in the old school episodes where she's banished to her room with a headache for episodes at a time, but that's why I love the novels and audios, because they can go back and add layers and explore things - there's a bit in the audio Circular Time where she considers staying on Earth and she has a sharp exchange with the Doctor about her not being a fairytale princess anymore, just a girl in jeans in a pub, and I flailed a bit as I thought YES THAT. That idea of finding somewhere to replace Traken, who Nyssa is being defined by where she ends up - and I love her with the Doctor because evidently brittle, repressed, nerdy aliens travelling the universe together = OTP. Apart from when she's being femslashy with Tegan, which is often.
