I know there are at least a couple of people on my flist who are into Hornblower slash, and having just watched Mutiny: I need slash. Ohhh yes. Hornblower, Kennedy and/or Bush, any combination although anything with all three would be gold. Is there any out there? Please?

*squeaks in glee*

Have you also seen Retribution? If you haven't, all those above links are going to be horrifically spoilery.

My favourite writer in the fandom is [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn. She keeps the characters tough and complex. All her HH fic is here (http://shadow.andvapor.org/#hh), for all the movies but also the hornblower books. She just wrote this the other day, which is Kennedy/Hornblower/Bush: Men and Boys (http://quigonejinn.livejournal.com/84895.html). Also Come to Honour (http://quigonejinn.livejournal.com/55570.html), which has spoilers for Retribution.

Thanks for the warning! I do have Retribution, so will just have to force myself to watch that one before I read ny fic... ;)

Thank you so much for the spoiler warning. I watched Retribution. I think I'm broken now. Archie! *weeps*

*clings* I know! How could they do this to us poor new fangirls?

*clings* I fully expected one of them to fall on his sword to save the other two, but I was convinced it was going to be Bush (cunning Blockbuster, telling me lies about how Paul McGann was only in these two stories). Archie dying was a huge shock; and after the whole damn story with Captain Sawyer has been about the importance of preserving your honour and good name, Archie gives his up to save Horatio. It is a thing of Glorious Tragic Beauty.

I want to go and live in my happy Hornblower/Kennedy/Bush denial bubble, because the scenes in the Spanish fort practically wrote the book on OT3.

He wasn't mentioned in the report and my heart is BROKEN! Only a few people know what a brave man he was, barely able to stand in the courtroom. Sniff. OT3 is the way to go - Bush, so stoic! Hortatio, so clever! Kennedy, so pretty I want to cry and throw flowers at the screen!

I have just rented "The Duchess and the Devil " and "Frogs and Lobsters", which appear to have Birds on the cover, but I'm sure it's all a front for unspoken Kenndeylove. At least I'm 100% certain he won't die in them.

Welcome. :) It's the one point in the whole series I would really hate to be spoiled for, because it's so good. And heartbreaking. :/ Kennedy really comes into his own in the Mutiny/Retribution arc and then proves how deserving of his good name he was.

I just saw your comment about Bush being the Eight Doctor -- omg! Fantastic crossover idea. Love it!

It gets bizarre in Retribution because once he takes his wig off the ship's doctor looks exactly like the descriptions of Eight's nemesis, Sabbath, in the novels. I'm so writing that crossover once I've seen the rest of the movies...
