I know there are at least a couple of people on my flist who are into Hornblower slash, and having just watched Mutiny: I need slash. Ohhh yes. Hornblower, Kennedy and/or Bush, any combination although anything with all three would be gold. Is there any out there? Please?

[livejournal.com profile] fairestcat used to do compilations of fanfics based around each episode. If you poke her memories I'm sure you could find the entries. If memory serves correctly they were usually very high quality. I think this one (http://fairestcat.livejournal.com/247178.html) dealt with Mutiny and Retribution.

Fantastic fandom for fic. Really good quality stuff. You're in for a treat.

Most things I know about Hornblower fandom I learned from my fabulous roommate, whose fics are here (http://www.io.com/~cortese/stories/show.cgi?fandom=hornblower).

[livejournal.com profile] widget285 also has fabulous fics, and she not only has a thing for Horatio and Archie but also Edrington.

[livejournal.com profile] versaphile likes Mr. Bush, and has a bunch of recs here (http://www.versaphile.com/recs/list.asp?fandom=Hornblower), and her own fics are here (http://www.versaphile.com/fic/index.html).

There are lots of helpful links at http://directorium.org/HoratioHornblowerTVFandom as well.

Here you go:

This should make up for my complete lack of reading said fic. I can recommend the author's VM fic, so hopefully the Hornblower will please you. She's even got the three-way you want.

This is not a fic rec, but [livejournal.com profile] black_hound does fantastic artwork (some not worksafe).

Have fun!

Beating to Windward (http://www.slashcity.org/hh/archive/3/1833beating.html) by Atropos. AK/HH, set way in the future, sort of a movie!verse/book!verse fusion. Wonderful language.

Fire Sermon (http://commodorified.livejournal.com/154610.html) by [livejournal.com profile] commodorified. AK/Edrington, primarily, but everybody shows up and they're all beautifully characterized. Spoilers for Mutiny and Retribution. Way in the middle of a big fic!verse called All the King's Men, so if you like it, there's more. Movie!verse, but full of immaculate historical detail.

Now you are in my territory. MUWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

::rubs hands together::

OK, you've already been pointed towards Widget, Inlovewithnight, and Romanticalgirl. I highly recommend them all and they should keep you, um, busy for quite awhile. Romanticalgirl just posted an OMG HOT! A/H/B fic yesterday, Boring (http://romanticalgirl.livejournal.com/337113.html#cutid1), which it is soooo not.

In addition to those great gals, there is Misskittie's Fic (http://hornblower.xthesefourwallsx.com/). Her LJ is friends only so I'm pointing you to her site. As for LJ check out [livejournal.com profile] hh_slash, updated frequently, and [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteers.

My HH OTP is Archie/Horatio so I'm less up on stories not involving them as the main pairing. Oh, and I recommend watching all the films, but I *highly* recommend 'The Duchess and the Devil'. It's the film that made me a slash fan. ;-)

That's a coincidence - I rented out 'Mutiny' and 'Retribution' only the other week! Kennedy is such a dear little thing.

*squeaks in glee*

Have you also seen Retribution? If you haven't, all those above links are going to be horrifically spoilery.

My favourite writer in the fandom is [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn. She keeps the characters tough and complex. All her HH fic is here (http://shadow.andvapor.org/#hh), for all the movies but also the hornblower books. She just wrote this the other day, which is Kennedy/Hornblower/Bush: Men and Boys (http://quigonejinn.livejournal.com/84895.html). Also Come to Honour (http://quigonejinn.livejournal.com/55570.html), which has spoilers for Retribution.

Thanks for the warning! I do have Retribution, so will just have to force myself to watch that one before I read ny fic... ;)

Those are the two I got, too! And Kennedy's quite lovely. [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast and I are speculating that Bush really is the Eighth Doctor and it's all an elaborate scheme to get Kennedy to be his companion.

You're a star! Once I've seen Retribution I'll definitely check those out.

Thank you so much for the spoiler warning. I watched Retribution. I think I'm broken now. Archie! *weeps*

It is an excellent scheme! There should be a series of Eight-and-Kennedy films with good plots and lots of red Daleks. I'm going to town tomorrow to rent more 'Hornblower' DVDs because his wee nose is driving me to distraction.

*clings* I know! How could they do this to us poor new fangirls?

*clings* I fully expected one of them to fall on his sword to save the other two, but I was convinced it was going to be Bush (cunning Blockbuster, telling me lies about how Paul McGann was only in these two stories). Archie dying was a huge shock; and after the whole damn story with Captain Sawyer has been about the importance of preserving your honour and good name, Archie gives his up to save Horatio. It is a thing of Glorious Tragic Beauty.

I want to go and live in my happy Hornblower/Kennedy/Bush denial bubble, because the scenes in the Spanish fort practically wrote the book on OT3.

He wasn't mentioned in the report and my heart is BROKEN! Only a few people know what a brave man he was, barely able to stand in the courtroom. Sniff. OT3 is the way to go - Bush, so stoic! Hortatio, so clever! Kennedy, so pretty I want to cry and throw flowers at the screen!

I have just rented "The Duchess and the Devil " and "Frogs and Lobsters", which appear to have Birds on the cover, but I'm sure it's all a front for unspoken Kenndeylove. At least I'm 100% certain he won't die in them.

Welcome. :) It's the one point in the whole series I would really hate to be spoiled for, because it's so good. And heartbreaking. :/ Kennedy really comes into his own in the Mutiny/Retribution arc and then proves how deserving of his good name he was.

I just saw your comment about Bush being the Eight Doctor -- omg! Fantastic crossover idea. Love it!

It gets bizarre in Retribution because once he takes his wig off the ship's doctor looks exactly like the descriptions of Eight's nemesis, Sabbath, in the novels. I'm so writing that crossover once I've seen the rest of the movies...
