Brady Bunch Variety Hour? That Simpsons episode was actually parodying a real thing? It's... just... what? Why? Is it on DVD?

You're obviously younger than I, because I will never be able to rid my brain of the horror that is the Brady Bunch Variety Hour. The Simpsons helped ease the pain, though, I must say. *g*

Well, I'm a Brit, I'm not sure if it was ever shown here (tragedy, it looks like my parents would have loved it): till I cracked and bought season 1 on DVD a few months back I'd never seen The Brady Bunch itself, let alone the seemingly myriad spinoffs *g* I'm fascinated by this Brady Brides (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knYfFCVqBmU&search=brady%20bunch) thing. And a little sad that the spoof movies lied to me: what's Marsha doing married to some guy? Greg/Marsha 4eva!

*checks* Ah, the original show *was* broadcast in the UK, but before I was born. No word on the Variety Hour, sadly...

And you didn't grow up with The Brady Bunch? I'm in Australia, and I'm afraid there was no escape for us. That astro-turf was considered the height of sophistication in the 70's. *chortles* I don't know what kind of person I would have become if I hadn't grown up with Bobby and Cindy trying to set a teeter-totter record.

You really do need to see A Very Brady Christmas as well. It has everything, from Carol singing to last minute Christmas Eve miracles. If I can dredge up my ancient copy (taped when I was in my twenties for rewatching during drinking sessions with friends), I'll see if I can do something with it.
