Sometimes I just have to ask: what the shit?

Brady Bunch Variety Hour? That Simpsons episode was actually parodying a real thing? It's... just... what? Why? Is it on DVD?

ETA: The Brady Kids intro. "Our sisters are all quite pretty." Uh...

You're obviously younger than I, because I will never be able to rid my brain of the horror that is the Brady Bunch Variety Hour. The Simpsons helped ease the pain, though, I must say. *g*

The Brady Bunch Variety Hour is cheese at its finest. I highly recommend that you rent and watch and weep with laughter! (And I say this as someone old enough to remember The Brady Bunch TV show itself!)

Does anyone else think when they're doing that first song that they're going to end on 'It's Satan!' ?

Not just the Brady Bunch. It was also a parody on shows like Laugh-In (the big round sign with Marge and Homer's picture), Carol Burnett (special guest star Tim Conway) and the Smothers Brothers. Also, the Brady Bunch Variety Hour was sort of a parody in and of itself. It was inspired by real-family variety shows like Donny and Marie; and the song they sing at the beginning is from "A Chorus Line," which was a smash hit musical at the time.

I love legitimate theatre. *g*

I am reminded why I moved into a tent right after I graduated from college in 1974, in prefernece to living in my parent's house, where much Brady was watched.

Julia, hypothermia beats saccharine sitcoms any day

O ye of fortunate and tender years, for having escaped the HORROR that was the Brady Bunch. It was required viewing every time my cousins were around (which was very often) when I was a nipper, an I'm sure it's done me endless harm. I wouldn't be half the degenerate I am today if it hadn't been for the rebound factor of this show!!!
:p

The original Brady Bunch. One of the few shows on the planet I watched religiously. It probably explains a lot about my parenting style.

Ah well, too late now.

Wow, it really is quite obvious that that isn't the real Jan. Although the "real" Cindy is hardly recognizable as such...

u r so young. I remember sweating on that show starting. Peter would always end up being pushed into the swimming pool. I watched all of TBB episodes first run and the Brady Brides. My 20 yo son watched one rerun and was shocked I knew the plot, dialogue-everything. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! BTW I tried discipling my boys with a stern talk ala Mike Brady once, and they so confused that they LISTENED and LEARNT! I remember being s jealous that Davy Jones from The Monkeys kissed Marcia on the cheek-and on the flip side!!
