May. 7th, 2005 08:12 pmMy mum had a go at watching the first five minutes of Doctor Who with me.
Mum: Is that girl...
Me: Billie Piper. She was married to Chris Evans.
Mum: Where do I know that actor from?
Me: He's Todd from Coronation Street.
Mum: I thought it was him. And who's that?
Me: That's the Doctor. Um, the actor's Christopher Eccleston. You won't have seen him in anything.
Mum: Who was the nice blond one who was a vet?
Me: Peter Davison, Mum.
Mum: [wistful] He was lovely.
Then after expressing surprise that 8 million people watch this (Davison-less) show, she wandered off, missing my glee at seeing Fran from Black Books play the doctor. Meanwhile, I freaked out at the realization that I fancy someone my *mother* fancies. Urgh.
This is the one I've been waiting for, Father's Day. Paradoxes and time loops, yay! Very interested that we saw two versions of the Doctor and Rose in the same place - I was wondering if they'd do that, have we ever seen that in the series before? Looks quite Back to the Future. This week's was too, actually, what with Adam trying to take information back to the past and make himself rich.

on 2005-05-07 07:26 pm (UTC)I've seen Three Doctors and Five Doctors but wasn't sure if he'd ever met himself in the same incarnation, or if one of the companions had met themselves.

on 2005-05-09 11:48 pm (UTC)Best Regneration ever!
on 2005-05-10 01:04 pm (UTC)A nice tonch right at the end is when Colin Baker sits up and he's a bit away from Peri. She presumably must move away while the regenration occurs. Understandable actions on her part if what she sees is anything like what the audience sees. And of course the whole final conversation as Peri tries to understand what just happened.
"what happened, Doctor?"
"Change, my dear, and not a moment too soon!"

on 2005-05-20 01:13 am (UTC)The fact that I had to use a calculator to work that out is a little worrying, considering my exam tomorrow has much maths.
