Apr. 20th, 2005 05:57 pmI have in my greedy paws three shiny Doctor Who DVDs.
...I think it's safe to say at this point that I definitely have a new fandom, isn't it? (Not that my heart doesn't still belong first and foremost to the Buffyverse.) Coming into a fandom with, what, about 160 stories - not episodes, full arcs - and a bazillion books and short stories is a wee bit intimidating, though I am remembering that I caught up on six seasons of Buffy and three of Angel in two months.
I got Spearhead from Space (because it has the Autons and UNIT), Ghost Light (because I haven't seen any 7th Doctor yet and I like the cover - lo, I am predictable in my shallowness), and The Three Doctors (it has a Blue Peter featurette and I'm hoping to find out how to make a Tardis cake for my Dalek cakes to exterminate).
For some reason, even though the First Doctor's my least favourite of them so far, those are the episodes I really want to see more of; I think it's because I love seeing the stuff that was done back in the 60s, presumably on a micro-budget. I love the naffness, but there are bits that make me go 'oooh' - there's a particular shot in Dalek Invasion of Earth that I need to screencap because it's gorgeous. I've read a synopsis of one where they're on a planet of giants and I'm dying to see how that was done.
Also, Ian and Barbara were shagging like weasels in the back of the Tardis.
ETA: Jack Davenport talks about PoTC2 *Norrington squee*
