I have in my greedy paws three shiny Doctor Who DVDs.

...I think it's safe to say at this point that I definitely have a new fandom, isn't it? (Not that my heart doesn't still belong first and foremost to the Buffyverse.) Coming into a fandom with, what, about 160 stories - not episodes, full arcs - and a bazillion books and short stories is a wee bit intimidating, though I am remembering that I caught up on six seasons of Buffy and three of Angel in two months.

I got Spearhead from Space (because it has the Autons and UNIT), Ghost Light (because I haven't seen any 7th Doctor yet and I like the cover - lo, I am predictable in my shallowness), and The Three Doctors (it has a Blue Peter featurette and I'm hoping to find out how to make a Tardis cake for my Dalek cakes to exterminate).

For some reason, even though the First Doctor's my least favourite of them so far, those are the episodes I really want to see more of; I think it's because I love seeing the stuff that was done back in the 60s, presumably on a micro-budget. I love the naffness, but there are bits that make me go 'oooh' - there's a particular shot in Dalek Invasion of Earth that I need to screencap because it's gorgeous. I've read a synopsis of one where they're on a planet of giants and I'm dying to see how that was done.

Also, Ian and Barbara were shagging like weasels in the back of the Tardis.

Ian and Barbara were definitely shagging. If they weren't, it was only because Susan kept knocking on the door and interrupting them.

I am so getting sucked back into this fandom. I don't have to catch up with the aired episodes (I'd like to rewatch them, mind you, but I've seen all of Doctors 3-7 at least once, and bits from the first two, and read the novelizations of most episodes), but everything from after the show went off the air? I don't even know what all of it is.

*definitely not thinking Susan/Barbara thoughts. That would be very underage and wrong. Ahem.*

Prior to this series, I'd only ever seen the Paul McGann TV movie, when I was 13, and read one of the novelisations when I was about 9. There's a lot to catch up on...

Yes. Underage and wrong. Definitely. And I am a firm opponent of underage and wrong. No, really, I am. The icon is an, um. An ironic statement.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of canon out there. I was forced to watch the show when I was about 12 (apparently, my father had been waiting years for it to be shown on TV here). I had to be forced for oh, two weeks or so, before I became obsessed. *g*

Have you made a Dalek cake yet???????????????????

Ooooh, oooh, I want a Dalek cake!!

....I may be getting slighty too enthusiastic about this.

I might have to take a walnut-whip buying expedition, since those ones looked nice and easy. A swiss roll Dalek may be beyond my very limited capabilities...

The shot from Invasion of Earth? Daleks on the Albert Memorial?

And we will need to see pictures of the Tardis cake facing off valiently against the Evil Forces of the Dalek Cake.

I squealed aloud when the Dalek trundled out of the water at the end of the first episode. And then I realized I was irrevocably lost to this fandom. I can already guarantee my subject line a week on Saturday will be 'OMGWTFDALEK!'

That was a great shot. Iconic.

Dalek pov fic. It has to be done, dude.

Now I'm wondering how Dalek smut would work...

It's worse. I just wondered about Doctor/Davros slash. It is the ultimate in mortal enemy things, isn't it.

*reads interview* It's good to know that Ted&Terry will be back - less risk of the sequels sucking.

I am about as far from a Norrington fangirl as it is possible to be, but Jack Davenport is adorable and awesome and I'm so glad he's doing the sequels. It wouldn't be as fun without him.

For a long time I was worried Norrington wasn't going to be in the sequels - even after it was confirmed JD was shooting, I was still waiting for an interview, just to make it seem definite. So I am a happy fangirl right now *g*

Zomg, Spearhead From Space is like a if you put 'Rose' and 'Aliens of London' in a blender with some money and then put in Naked Pertwee just to hurt people.

BUT THE BRIG! OMG!

I've watched the first two - OMG THE BRIG! Whhhy wasn't there a spinoff with the Brig and UNIT and Liz the snarky science lady?

I really love this Doctor, although not when he is naked.

Brig/Doctor/Liz OT3 OMG.

Also the doll factory scared the crap out of me and I am 22. I do not understand how children watched this and weren't psychologically damaged.

Three is Exceptionally Camp. I can't really handle his whole Working For The Man Thing though. *sads* And I think the Brig should be considered the main character, with his Wacky Poncey Alien Sidekick as comic relief.

I actually thought the Brig was another Time Lord. Because he has a 'the' in his name.

I are not smart.

(Um, is there any Brig/Doctor slash?)

I am busily scoping out Dr Who DVDs on ebay... I think we may be lost :-)

And OMG you have to make the cake. Some things just have to be done.

Oh you have the whole peter davison era before you, I'm jealous. And while Tom Baker is very amusing you might have to drink heavily to tolerate Colin Baker.

The geekiest possession I own is a copy of the Lost episode of Doctor Who (Shada) signed by Douglas Adams who was a writer for the show.

Welcome to the fandom.

Peter Davison is weirdly hot and I'm thinking very VERY wrong Doctor/Adric thoughts

You know I had a huge crush on both of them, and this was pre- discovery of slash.

Now I boggle at the potential. I know it's wrong, but I don't want to be right. :)

There's a bit in Earthshock where they're both offscreen and you just hear "I don't want to!" "You've done it before!"

And a couple of minutes later, Adric sulks "if you won't take me, I'll find someone who will!

Ah, the joys of out of context. So wrong.

Hee. I love that story.

It's wonderful. Even if when it's the first DW you ever see, and no one you know has ever seen it ever, it is ninety minutes of "I like this, I really do, but WTF?"

I am very tempted to start buying Doctor Who DVDs too. Except I'm so crazy about the current Doctor/Rose, it might frustrate me to watch the earlier doctors! I would love to see the 60s stuff, though...

After and iffy start I have to admit that I am also getting bitten by the Doctor bug again.
My brother came to visit the other day and we had a full on geekathon. Trying to figure out the sex thing mainly.
Ok. So we know that the doctor has a granddaughter which would lead us to believe he has had sex. Then he makes a big play of not doing the sex and being all asexual. But then he is half human. Perhaps it varies from generation to regeneration.
It's killing me. Does the Doctor shag? That's all I want to know.
Actually, that's a lie. I want to know how and who with too. ;o)

Well, I've just finished watching Spearhead From Space, and there's a scene at the end with the third Doctor, the Brigadier and Liz sitting around drinking tea, and Liz's blouse looks just a tiny bit dishevelled, and I bet they had a threesome. For they are my new OT3.
