Over the last two days we've rented and watched both Scooby Doo live action movies. Um. Am I going to lose any cool points you people foolishly think I possess if I admit that I really enjoyed them? And that I'm so in love with Velma? And that I was fully on board the Velma/Daphne/Fred ship till Seth Green turned up as her love interest in the sequel? (Mr. Green should play a serial killer, by the way. He plays menacing very well. Also, I would like to marry him and make him wear glasses *all the time*, but that's incidental.)

Dude, the main character is so stoned he thinks his dog can talk. I was destined to love these movies.

I loved them and with a nine year old can go and watch them/buy them with no loss of cool ;-)

And the second one had so much Velma/Daphne slashy sub-text it was making my eyes pop.

And yes, Seth's character was way scary in the tunnel scene and the menacing bit.

Seth plays murderous in Attic Expeditions, which is...well, a really bad movie. I still don't really know what happened. But Seth gets covered in blood and kisses a boy, so it's a lot of fun nonetheless. :)

I haven't seen Scooby 2 yet, but I did see the first one in the theatre with a couple of my friends. We all liked it a lot; it was just so silly, but in a good way. There is certainly a place for that kind of entertaining fluff.

I'm a complete and *total* fan of all Fred/Velma in the first movie. They are CONSTANTLY together and the main conflict and the reason Mystery Inc. broke up was because Fred and Velma were fighting and it just goes from there. The first two to see each other in the airport? Fred and Velma. Who's sitting together on the plane? Fred and Velma. Who enters through the exit together? Fred and Velma. Who end up fighting together at the end? Fred and Velma. The Fred/Daphne kiss at the end was SO random. I stand by this.

That little smile he gives her after falling through the window on the ride? Melty. And he beat some guys up for her (using his nifty swinging rope thing trick). And don't get me started on the deleted scene where Velma sings--TO FRED, I swear. Theirlovewassoobvious.

They were so coupley. And the second one? Nothing. They barely talk. I think the writer's realized what they'd done (and the insane amounts of chemistry Linda and Freddie had) and put the kabosh on it. Woe. I do like the Patrick/Velma bits though. Mmm...Seth.

Yes! We went through the deleted scenes, we went on google in case there was an easter egg, and we had to accept that it was nowhere on the DVD. Sigh.

*snerf* Before the first one came out, we had a group lunch at work (bridal shower, I think) and a bunch of us were talking about going together as a field-trip (we have a largish group of the ME faithful in our office). Somebody made a crack about Shaggy and Scooby being stoners, and one of the guys, outraged, says, "Do you mean they smoked marijuana? No, they didn't! It was a kid's show!" And we're like, Dude ('cause we say that too), why do you think they were hungry all the time?

Also? Velma. It's all about Velma.

How could this guy have missed it?!? When they open the van in the credits, all that smoke comes rolling out the back of the van and then Shaggy and Scooby go looking for food. Also, Shaggy totally adopts the stoner vocabulary current during the 1970's. No one who was old enough to be aware of the world around them in the seventies ever would have thought that Shaggy and Scooby were anything but dopers.
