Me, an hour ago: PutonE4rightawayhavetowatchthesecondepisodeofDesperateHousewives!
Dad: Mm?
Me: E4! Desperate Housewives!
Dad: Ahh, I see the confusion here: you see, we have these things called 'television schedules'. Now, you've just finished watching Desperate Housewives on Channel 4, so it'll be on again *next* Wednesday at 10.
Me: [Cartman] Daaaad! I have to watch it nooooow!
Mum: Oh, let her watch her program.
Me: Huzzah!
Mum: I didn't understand that Dangerous Wives at all. The lady's dead, how can she be telling the story?

I wish AIM wasn't being a bastard so I could squee with people. As it is, I'm going offline now so I don't get tempted to read spoilers (this is one of the few shows where I went in knowing absolutely nothing but "[livejournal.com profile] jennyo loves it, there's a character called Bree, [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast says the narrator's a dead woman and the trailer kicks ass". It was nice to watch something and be surprised.)

Spoiler-free is so the way to go :)

(I have no interest in watching Desperate Housewives, despite the raves, but i hate knowing what's going to happen in a story -- unless i am revisiting one i already know.)

I love that I'm the name-checked when it comes to the DH.

Though lord, I cannot imagine being non-American today, between "hey, how come the Americans have had this Desperate Housewives for four months now? When's Veronica Mars coming to US? And damn you people for getting the 4th season Alias premiere!" cuz yeah, it's a good week for TV.

See, you have all that, and we have... :thinks: Shameless and Teachers and Black Books and tons of stuff that will probably never get exported because the humour is too British, and some glorious day there will be the ability to upload/download instantaneously at DVD quality and then none of us will ever leave our houses again.

But sadly, that is not today.

(I could watch DH with the sound off and just marvel at Bree's astonishing, flawless hair, all the time wondering whether she's Dawn Summers' natural mother.)

DH with the sound off would be even more surreal; it would probably make Susan look...worse. For then the pratfalls and the uncanny Gilmore resemblance would be very, very clear. *giggles and giggles* It might make Lynette's storyline better, and I might not want to slap Gabrielle if I just could look at the pretty. :)

I read "Gilligan reference" and thought "yeah, I can somewhat see... oh, *Gilmore*." I've only ever seen one episode of that show but I definitely got that feeling from Susan and what's-her-name, the daughter. I spent a good part of their scenes wondering whether Mike was a criminal or an undercover cop, and also whether Susan was wearing a bra.

I got totally confused over whether Lynette's three boys are meant to be triplets. The dialogue made it sound like they were born in successive years, but they're all the same height. Maybe she feeds them smaller amounts as they get older so they can all wear each other's clothes...

Wasn't it fun?

And Dawn is so the child that got away - only to really fall out of the frying pan into the fire.

it's nice to see Teri Hatcher again. I wonder what Dean Cain is currently doing?

To imdb I go...

He's doing movies, but nothing I've ever heard of. Quite a lot of it made-for-TV Lifetime type stuff.

Ahhhhh, I see.

Off thought : now that I'm thinking of Lois & Clark, the first scene that I remember from that show is the one where we see just how Superman shaves (by using his heat vision and a mirror to sorch the hair off). Yet when I think about Smallville, such an idea doesn't work so I wonder how they would explain it...

(In case anyone's wondering, the second thing(s) I remember from Lois & Clark are: the scene where Clark'm mum creates the suit - "Well if you were that, people won't be looking at your face!"...."Mom!", and the scene where Lois, who has Clark's powers turns up as Ultrawoman)

Oh yeah, and Ultrawoman actually gets a mask instead of some glasses and hair gel...

I heard that this season of Smallville mentions that Clark's hair can't be cut. Which keeps with Superman canon but begs the question of how he keeps it short (maybe it goes back in when he pumps his arm a certain way, like those dolls I can't remember the names of?)

The first thing I think of when I think about L&C is the episode where Lois is marrying Lex and she's standing in front of the mirror practising her name and says "Lois Lane-Kent" and I was 10 so this was the most Romantic Moment In The History Of The World OMG.

I read TWoP recaps and got a pretty big spoiler, because the recapper had gone back and done the early episodes with later knowledge. *sulks* I hate spoilers.
