I'm having a go at RPing over in pruegirl17's journal, all about Buffy and Tara and their college romance. It's fun and a new experience for me, RP-almost-virgin.

"You won't really be any use after that many drinks," Anya commented. "Besides, I think you're just drunk enough to consent to fornicate."

Giles blinked again. This time very, very slowly. And then he looked around the bar, wondering with dread who she expected this... fornication to be with.

The chaos demon waved.

Anya grimaced at the thought of slime on the chaos demon. Sex could be messy enough. Turning her head away from the chaos demon, she looked Giles up and down.

"So?" She asked. Wasn't it clear that she was talking to him?

"So? What, so?" He frowned at his own mangled grammar, but it was the least of his worries. "Anya..." He pressed his hand to his forehead, "Anya, you're... bright and funny and lovely and an excellent pool player. And I'm a little bit drunk and you're not making a lot of sense. What are you talking about?"

"Well, are you refusing my offer of sexual intimacy?" Anya asked.

He didn't even know that she was hitting on him, did he? For an intellegent ex-librarian watcher he really could be clueless at times.

Well. That was a bit less confusing. And quite a lot more worrying.

"What kind of answer is that?" She questioned, now frowning.

He was drunk enough to be blatantly hustled at pool, drunk enough to acknowledge to himself that he was more than tempted by the offer; and sober enough to realize exactly why tempted was as far as it could go.

"It's the only answer I can give," he said gently. "It's... remarkable of you to ask. But there are too many complications. Xander."

"Maybe you've had too much to drink," Anya stated, now upset by the mention of Xander. "We're not together. We won't be together. Why should you care about Xander right now?"

She offered copulation and got a bitter reminder of her ex. How was that fair?

"Because he would care," Giles said. "If we were to..." He wasn't quite sure what to do with his hands, and found himself leaning awkwardly back against the table. "No matter how much we might like to, it wouldn't be right."

She had a smudge of chalk on her cheek. Automatically, he reached out to wipe it away.

She really was very beautiful.

Anya's lips were shaped into a small frown, her lower lip jutting out into a pout. She wished that he didn't care about what Xander would think or feel. In fact, she wished that she didn't care either. But wishes never seemed to come true for her. Ever. She was the one who delivered other people's

She leaned in slightly towards his touch, her cheek resting in the palm of his hand. Even though she didn't want to hear what he was saying, she did understand.

"Giles..." She breathed, beginning. It didn't seem any kind of fair.
