I got the DVD of Teachers series 3. Well, I skipped labs to get it, and when Tesco didn't have it I dispatched [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast downtown to buy it. And now it's in my grubby mitts and I love it so.

There's a whole episode devoted to Kurt and Brian's relationship, and trouble kicking off when they get a Christmas card addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. McKenna". The fact that everyone treats them as a married couple doesn't seem to phase either of them - Brian's just puzzled as to why he's being called Kurt's wife rather than his husband. Simon tactlessly points out that Brian does everything for Kurt and "if he *was* your husband you'd have grounds to divorce him for emotional abuse." "I'd never divorce Kurt," Brian says, hurt, but once he starts to think about it he realizes Kurt does take him for granted, and breaks up with him. (He words this as "our relationship hasn't been working for some time".) And everybody calls it a break-up. And Kurt views this as exactly the same situation as Bob's wife walking out on him. And they hold hands across the canteen table when Brian's decided he's made a mistake and is trying to get back together. And squee, for they are the slashiest couple of all time.

My essay for [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto is going to be about 10,000 words long, isn't it...

Aww! I'm getting my DVDs swapped. I want to see the not talking.

I love the second or third episode in that season, when Kurt's giving up smoking and goes on the date with one of the kid's mothers: Brian just seems so quietly sad. "There's always your winning smile" and "you lot have got someone to come home to". And in episode 12 (I think), Clare's double take at seeing Brian without Kurt. "You're here but... he's not? Extraordinary."
