Jeff Bell, recapping this season:

"We’ve asked ourselves the question, ‘Can a bunch of outsiders who are fighting evil go into the belly of the beast and change it from the inside without being changed ourselves?’ And that’s one of the things we’re trying to get to. Another issue we’ve got is this whole prophecy thing. Does it mean anything? What does it mean to Angel, to Spike? Will Spike and Angel ever kiss?"

:dies and is ded:

(Now I'm trying to find that interview where - Drew Goddard, was it? Said that the one thing they always, always wanted to do on Buffy was have Spike and Xander kiss and it just never happened. I'm sure I didn't dream that...)

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] snidgemma points out that it was in fact Drew Greenberg. And we have the video evidence.

I don't know about Goddard but Greenberg did (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/buffy/interviews/greenberg2/page4.shtml) :D

Oh Lord, thank you SO much for that link :)

I just watched it... the line to marry Greenberg starts behind me. Canon! Canon! It is!

God, I wish they would. Just for the hell of it. Like, in the last episode. For some reason or no reason at all. Have them kiss and share a look and not talk about it, just keep on fighting.

It would be a message to the current political situation, and make a lot of people very happy besides. I've always said, if Joss doesn't dare to have two men kiss on his show, no one will.

I have hope. A tiny, tiny bit of hope, but it's hope. *crosses fingers*

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. It needs to happen. One little kiss, Joss, please?

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
There are so many reasons why I am Jeff Bell's whore.

Not that Jeff knows this of course, but I maintain the hope that if I camp out in his bushes long enough he'll eventually start to notice me.

[gets out the marshmellows]

Now I'm getting nostalgic for the sleepover thread in Crystalwank. Even though I'm still sulking about the Ben & Jerry's.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
We can have Ben & Jerry's!

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, chocolate fudge brownie. (I checked out the website last night. The list of discontinued flavours made me want to weep and then build a DeLorean.)

Jeff Bell and Tim Minear, I shall forever be their minion, and they shall rule wisely in my universe. (For Minear was the one who said his favourite pairing was Angel/Lindsey.)

*goes back to stalking them*

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
And Minear wrote the eyefucks into the script!

I love those wacky writers.

[identity profile] cosmic.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
The eyefucks! How could I forget. *goes to pet the scripts*

Not to mention "It's not me you want to screw."

It's hard not to be a slasher when the frigging canon writers are thinking the same things.

And in my book, that makes it canon.

:dies and is ded:

Hee! You and me both, Baby :)

I love Jeff Bell for saying this -- for thinking this. Love the Drews, too. Seriously, if neither Spike nor Angel can have the girl, let them have each other!

[identity profile] stakebait.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Guh. ::is dead right along with you::

I love my dead gay show.

[identity profile] flurblewig.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, please. Please, in the sacred names of everything that is - well, sacred - let this happen. The writers can't give us another season but they at least can give us that.

::crosses every available body part & waits::

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
And it's not even as if the WB can stop them, is it? They're already cancelled, the worst they could do is not air the finale. And I think at this point that would lead to the Battle of Levin's Deep.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_divya_/ 2004-04-21 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*snerkle* Damn, that was a great clip. Too bad he was kidding. :::mopes:::

[identity profile] chicken-cem.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, David Fury said that the primary romance of the season was Spike+Angel.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Good catch, I forgot that one!

James Marsters did say that Spike and Angel were never going to kiss, what with the both of them being men. But he's been wrong quite a lot of times before...

[identity profile] chicken-cem.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, he once said in the DVD commentaries that male vampires killed female victims only, and female vampires only killed male victims, statements which are clearly false.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and that we'd never see Spike biting a guy because he's straight!

There's a Mister Holden Webster who begs to differ *g* (Although wasn't that why Drusilla suddenly became Spike's sire, because of the homoerotic subtext that Angel siring him implied? Or is that a fandom urban legend? Clearly didn't bother them when it came to Penn and Lawson...)

[identity profile] chicken-cem.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, Holden, Penn, and Lawson, as well as that guy at the beginning of season three in flashbacks, James (http://vrya.net/bdb/ep.php?ep=45&eptype=AtS), was it, they all put the lie to that straight vampire thing.

I don't know about the fandom urban legend.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-21 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Possibly Billy Ford, but I always assumed Dru sired him, since Spike seemed too irritated by him to do it himself. Unless it was to hurt Buffy, but that seems more Angelus's style.
