Coming out of the closet

Sooo. Might as well admit that I'm the one writing the First's LJ mainly because I'm feeling bouncy about how much positive feedback I've gotten. Seeing anything about it on various lists makes me go "eeeee!" Also red_witch, who writes a kickass Willow LJ, has paid for my account for 2 months, for which I'm very very grateful. I have no idea how long people will keep reading it, but I'm having a load of fun writing it.

So all of the 6 people who read this now know my secret identity. And Mary and Laurence knew anyway, but still. :)

Fic, etc

The only thing more surreal than MSTing Hush with Glenn is MSTing Hush with Glenn at 3am when both of you have had too much sugar and too little sleep. This led to strangeness such as the singing of the Riley Song (which sounds oddly like The Mighty Quinn) and an extended metaphor comparing sex with Riley to a KFC meal. The phrase "Zinger Tower Finn" did crop up. If I fail all my exams and become a drop-out roadsweeper, it's all Joss Whedon's fault.

I have two more exams next week that promise to be killers, but I'm living in happy denial land. Certain friends are encouraging me to drop out and become a writer, by which they mean "drop out and spend all your spare time writing me Wesley/Connor slash". Naming no names. I think I'll stick with my degree, though it gets awkward when people ask what I'm studying and follow it up with "and what career will a degree in astrophysics get you, exactly?" They're obviously assuming I fully researched the course rather than, say, applying for a joke and then deciding "what the hell" when I got accepted.

Weighing in very late with my New Year's Resolution: to write something and ignore that little voice in the back of my head tat says "and what makes you think you can write worth jack?" long enough to finish the damn thing. I don't mean the First Evil journal since it doesn't really have a beginning or an end - I'm going back and retroactively adding some entries to cover season 7 up to Bring on the Night - but a short story, a novella, a ficlet, anything that I can put out there. Something non-fanfic would be excellent, but right now anything would do.

Yep, looks right to me. Card-carrying Stakehouse lurker here. And the subtext thing probably comes from being a slasher first and foremost. Someday I'm going to write that mini-essay I've been planning about how I got sucked into Spuffy despite myself (I tried to be a Spander fan, honest I did...)

Holy mother of god this is funny...

Ever seen a really bad bootleg of a popular movie? They occasionally have captions that are translated into English by someone who is quite often defeated by accents or proper names. The bootleg Attack of the Clones is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, though it's hard to ever respect Samuel L's character when you've seen him referred to as "Mage Window".

Now some lovely person has done screencaps of a FOTR bootleg and they're hysterical. Marvel at the adventures of the "hoppits"; ponder exactly what Aragorn means by "I can avoid being seen at I wish, at this time it is a rear gift"; laugh evilly at his instruction to Arwen to "ride hard. Don't come back."
