(no subject)

The SFX letters page printed the greatest response ever to the Angel cancellation:

"Made a note in my diary on the way home. It simply said: 'bugger'."

(If you don't get the reference, shame on you, and rent or buy Blackadder Goes Forth as soon as humanly possible, if not sooner.)

And it was from someone in my city! Squee! Any of you real-life lot know a Lee somebody? Possibly Wilson.

That just edges out the Marsters Wars as my favourite SFX letter ever. (That was a couple of letters in response to a comment in the editorial that they know women only buy the magazine for photos of James Marsters. They ranged from a cheerful "Yep, you got me there!" to the wonderfully sarcastic, "Unbelievably, not every woman on Earth is creaming her knickers over His Blondeness")

I love SFX.

Heh. Must start buying SFX again. (And NOT for the pictures of JM...)

I know a couple of Lee's, but nary an ATS fan among them. Still, it's nice to know they're out there. Blackadder and ATS -- where do I go to meet these men?

The shortest answer is "the meetings of the Queen's sci-fi society" since a good 80% of the regulars aren't students anyway, but we can be a bit daunting to outsiders *g*

Ah! Mystery solved.

Sounds like a blast, although I'm not even a QUB graduate, so I'd feel a bit out of place. (I did have accountancy classes in the big social sciences lecture theatre, but that's a bit of a tenuous link.)

Pfft, not a requirement either. Do you ever go to the Angel days at the Europa?

[identity profile] rheanna27.livejournal.com 2004-04-18 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
I never have, as it happens. They had Juliet Landau at one, didn't they?

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-04-18 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
At one of the cons, yep. I wasn't at that one, I was at the Crimelords convention. It was a lot of fun.

The normal Angel days are just a big group of fans watching a bunch of the latest episodes. Lots of fun, and a good way to see them before they come on Sky. It was Buffy and Angel last year, now it's Angel and Smallville.

Angel/Smallville

I also attend these days. They're great fun. At the last one, one of the organisers who is good with his hands had built a 3 feet tall Angel puppet. It was brilliant! The next day is this weekend, Sunday 25th at the Europa Hotel, Belfast. I hope to see a lot of you lot there.

PS Doyle_sb4, I'll see you on Wednesday, I hope?

I didn't know it was this Sunday! Eek... Okay, my parents can leave me up on Satuday night. Won't be there on Wednesday, though.

Yelp, it's this Sunday. If you're coming up on Saturday night, any chance you could make it early Saturday night so that the group had (finally) get another Buffy session.

I love SFX so much that I spend the big bucks to get it mailed to me here in the States. And yeah, the readership is a big part of why it's so good-- they've got smart, passionate, snarky fans, so they write to that audience.

"Bugger." Sigh.

I love SFX.

Me too, I've had a subscription since before I fancied the pants off JM - honest! ;0)

Had a letter printed there too, once. About them being so horrible about S:AAB. Used the now infamous, "don't suppose you've even bothered to watch it!" and everything. teeheehee

Hmm, been a while since they've had Spike on the front - think I feel a letter coming on!

Good Lord. I've been thinking about friending you because of the good fic and the First journal and the funny, and I come over here today and find that you know Blackadder and you list math as an interest?! Well, that tears it.
