I lucked out, my practical involves leaving the computer to run by itself for 45 minutes, giving me time to update (or prepare for tomorrow's classes, but like they expected me to do that.)

Last night I saw Potential and last week's Angel, which I can't remember the name of. Long Day's Journey? I'd read the wildfeeds and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed both episodes, since I expected pretty weak fillers. Then again, I loved Him, which most people online seemed to hate.

Every unspoiled person who was in the room expected Dawn to be the Potential. As soon as Willow mentioned another SIT in Sunnydale the reaction was "oh, it's so obvious that it's Dawn". So that plot twist worked, though I'm waiting for the double-bluff that Dawn's a potential after all. I hope she's not. This episode greatly alleviated my hatred for the girl, but I don't want her to be the Slayer. That said... why exactly isn't she being trained with the rest of the girls? Okay, she doesn't have the instincts that were hyped up in this episode, but Buffy was starting to train her in Lessons. What's the harm in letting her sit in on some of the boot-camp back at the house, even if she's not allowed to accompany them on the "field trips"?

Of course, I'd much prefer Willow to teach Dawn magic. Err, not in a sexy way. And after seeing how she handled Amanda, I'm thinking Dawn could be a hell of a Watcher some day, if the council ever recovers.

Random thoughts on the rest: the Spike/Buffy handholding at the beginning made me melt in a puddle of goo. Just when I was starting to be all tough and not-caring, too. My reaction was "okay, I don't think they're going to end up together and I don't care. Just keep giving me moments like that between now and the finale." Snarky, SIT-stalking Spike was lots of fun too, though I was bummed he didn't get to say one word to Clem.

But on the bright side... Clem! How I've missed him, although I don't want to know what those things coming out of his face were.

I think I'm one of the few people who loves the SITs. Rona and Amanda could well edge out Kennedy as my favourite, but it's a close-run thing.

Andrew continues to be cute and hilarious. I loved his "blossoming to womanhood" speech, though I'm puzzled by the people on some boards who want a Dawndrew 'ship. Not as puzzled as Andrew would be, I'll warrant.

Finally... Xander's speech. The group I watched with were evenly divided between those who, like me, needed a tissue and pledged their eternal love for Xander, and those who either saw it as an even lamer retread of the Yellow Crayon o' Unconditional Love or started to sarcastically sing Wind Beneath My Wings. I loved it. Beautiful moment for the two characters. And I thought Xander looked hot in that scene. It was hotties all round, actually, I thought everyone looked good this episode.

Overall? Eight out of ten. It loses a point for Buffy's speech in the opener, which should have been shown over a montage of them in the cemetary or anything to break it up a little.

Excuse me while I wade to the shallow end of the pool...

Angel in a hoodie (!). Angel all angry and self-righteous. And was he hitting on Gwen? I think he was.

Yum.

Anyway. Sad lack of Lilah this week. I want me some Wes/Lilah. I could care less about the Wes/Gunn/Fred triangle (actually, I couldn't without jackhammering through about 40 feet of indifference). Gwen, I like. Cordy's hair, I love. Cordy's attitude to Angel - I say, the hell? "Suck it up"? There's bitchy and then there's just evil. Poor Connor, too. I like that he's started to refer to Angel as his dad, though.

Lorne's comment on not everyone not being able to wear gold lame because it'd "just look camp"... bwaaaaa! His Angel-impression was great, too. Andy Hallett is a treasure.

I love Angel's Buffy-like rallying-the-troops speech... and everyone more or less ignoring him.

The ending - who cares about flimsy continuity. Angelus is baaaaack... I've missed my boy these last couple of years.

Can't wait for the next two episodes, bizarre post-coital utterances and all.

I desperately want Angel to have a fifth season. How many evil gift-baskets do I have to send the WB?
