Just had an epiphany. Andrew's soulmate is so Vince from Queer as Folk UK. I mean, the "I've seen every episode of Doctor Who" alone would be enough to make Vince fall for him (Vinnie is a Doctor Who fanatic).

Must write crossover fic.

Thinking all this got me thinking about QAF, which I so have to rewatch tomorrow. I just loved it so much - the characters, their progression throughout the series... and Stuart/Vince! Theirlovewassoepic. I also remembered my favourite romantic scene of any television series ever -


This is in episode 8, the final of the first season (the second season is only two episodes long. In my perfect world, those two episodes exist only as an AU. Okay? So this is really-really the finale)

Stuart and Vince (tempting to short them as Brian and Michael except they aren't - B&M are based on the characters but their relationship is completely different, and it's fascinating that the two universes are identical until the night Phil/Ted takes an overdose. UK version: he dies. US version: he lives, and from that point on the stories take completely different paths. I could blather on about chaos theory, but I believe I'll shut up now) - where was I? Oh yes, Stuart and Vince have been best friends all their lives, with Vince's unrequited love the worst kept secret on Earth, until V gets himself a boyfriend for the first time ever. Stuart gets into a snit over this, but ends up trying in a halfassed way to be noble and let Vince go. He does this by outing him at work. Vince is furious, and they stop speaking.

Then Cameron, the boyfriend who's caused this contention, tells Vince he loves him. Vince panics.

Meanwhile, Nathan - a 15-year-old boy who had a one night stand with Stuart and who fancies himself in love with him - does a very sweet thing to get them talking again.

Stuart and Vince meet for lunch. Transcription doesn't do this justice, but it makes me die of happiness...
First off Stuart makes a joke about Cameron being able to name all the Doctor Who actors in order (which Stuart then proceeds to do, very fast)

Vince: Says he loves me. How are things with you? (long pause) It pisses me off, though. First to say love, he's in charge. Puts him in charge. I dunno, it's all a bit grown-up... (pause again, then, annoyed) You're supposed to ask if I love him.

Stuart: You can't. You can't even respect him. He loves Vince Tyler, so that makes him stupid. The moment he said it, it all just died.

Vince:....no. S'nothing like that. (beat) Me, though. I can't be the best shag he's ever had, he's Australian! I don't even know if I'm a good kisser, how'd you know if you're a good kisser?

Stuart: (smiling) You just do.

(they both laugh quietly)

Vince: Fuck off. (then:) it's not as if I've ever... done anything.

Stuart: You've done nothing, Vince. You go to work, you go for a drink, you sit and watch cheap science fiction movies. What is there that's in any way special about that? What is there to love?

Vince: .....yeah.

Stuart: (angry, intense) It was good enough for me.

And that was when I died happy *g*

Stuart and Vince! *dies* I love them! They were my first slash OTP. Aww. I love that Stuart recites the Doctors in order instead of saying 'I love you' because, like, it means more. Vince doesnt believe Cameron when he says 'I love you' but Stuart referencing the Doctors when Vince knows he hates the show... *sigh* It's, like, solid. Real.

Watch QAF2? 'Cause the dancing? And the hand-holding?. Ficcage galore.
