Exactly thirty-eight years and... oh, about three hours ago, my mother is seventeen, and a boy she's never met before - my father - has just asked her to dance.

:) My parents just don't strike me as being romantic at all - they're both very practical people - but when telling me the story tonight over dinner, close to forty years on they could still remember what band was playing that night, the names of the people they were there with, the dress my mum was wearing... yeah, made me feel mushy. And depressed at my singleness. *g*
