:looks at 450 words of flashfic:

:cries:

Tomorrow's the 12th of July - anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne. I know this means sod-all to anyone not a Northern Ireland Protestant but in my community it's essentially the 4th of July but far, far more irritating. I have to do family stuff all day.

Need to get flashfic finished now.

Interesting. I am embarrassed to say that most of my knowledge of Northern Ireland comes from Daniel Day-Lewis movies. Until now, thanks to you! So the food -- anything traditional?

Two friends of mine from Israel visited Belfast a couple of years ago and they said they felt more at home there than other places in the UK, because the heightened security, tension, etc. reminded them of home. Not that they liked it, it just felt familiar.
