CD swap community

The Summer After notebook project got me thinking about a community for swapping compilation CDs made by Buffy fans - I love making themed soundtracks, and it's great hearing songs and artists that are new to me. Dumb idea?

Maybe even a community for "this song reminds me of ship/character/episode, here's a link to the lyrics".

Not dumb. I love doing that with characters/ships, and people have told me about some great music that way. In another fandom I was in we had a fanfiction challenge called the Lyrics Challenge, in which we would trade lyrics with another random participant and have one week to write a story in the fandom about them; it was a lot of fun. Vive le musique!

you must have been reading my thoughts. I have almost fully laid out the cd I am enclosing in my notebook. One of my friends and I have been talking about my cd cause I'm putting lyrics into the collage on the front of my notebook. Basically I'm making a pocket for the cd and enclosing a list of the songs on it so anyone can burn it if they want or if it gets broken there will be the list of what it contained if anyone is interested. I've been working on the cd and lyrics and placement for a few days now and that would be kick ass if everyone were putting them in their notebooks.

I don't think it's a dumb idea, but I think it might turn into a runaway train. People will take just about any damn song and slap some BtVS symbolism on it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Me, I'll just stick with all the slashy early Depeche Mode, like "Master and Servant" and "Behind the Wheel". Spike/Angel, all the way.

That's the fun part, though. I'd never have thought of Jackson Brown's The Pretender as being a Wesley song till I saw a kick-ass music vid that made me go "hey, yeah..."

I recognise that people are going to nominate just about any love song for their 'ship, but hey, I get to hear new music, so it's all good.
