Jan. 12th, 2003 07:13 pmMy dad's internet adventures continue. He bought a PC last week and it's a whole new world for him. A slightly frightening world. We had a nasty moment when one of those "is someone watching your computer?" spam ads appeared and he freaked out, but I got him calmed down.
Him finding my FE Live Journal led to all sorts of complicated questions like "what on earth is an 'ubervamp'?" and "who wrote all this? You did? Really? Why aren't you writing something you could make money from? The Harry Potter books are very good, I hear."
I'm working on my answer to the 100 Things About You meme, but it's hard to think of a hundred things to say about me. "Shy, likes slash, liable to fail her midterms due to lack of studying" about covers it.

on 2003-01-12 12:48 pm (UTC)I do hope you post it; it'll be fun to read about you and your experiences. Even the little things that may seem inconsequential to you will resonate with someone else :-)
Oh, gawd...
on 2003-01-12 01:56 pm (UTC)I think your dad is my mom. It's funny, 'cause I was just talking about this with DevilPiglet last night.
I work for my folks. Once I was fixing up the awards page on my site, and mom appears behind me:
Mom: "What's all this?"
Me: "Um...it's the awards I've won... for my fanfic."
Mom: "Hmmm...so how can you make money off of this? How can we translate this into cash? You're a fantastic writer, you know. [She hasn't seen any of my writing since my senior year in high school, and believe me, that wasn't fantastic.] Can't you just change the names and sell it to a publisher? Why don't you just charge people for coming to your site?"
Sigh.

on 2003-01-12 03:17 pm (UTC)I think your mom and my dad are sharing a brain. He said pretty much the exact same thing.
Hey, be cool if you could, though :)
