Is anyone on my flist (apart from moonlettuce, natch) going to connotations in September? Or have been to one in previous years? Because I've just found out that I should be able to get a cheap flight from Belfast and despite, y'know, my general rubbishness with people in meatspace I think it sounds fun.

Yay, yay! I will be going if the hotel has rooms left (they only have five single rooms so I'm not getting my hopes up, though) even though this means making the heroic effort of talking to people who I don't know on the phone.

You might be okay with the single -- usually people room together.

But you can do it! Connotations is AWESOME! The one year I didn't go, I really hated missing out.

Oh, that'd be excellent! I rang today to see if they had any single rooms, but apparently not (the nice English lady who didn't quite understand my accent said she'd try to sort something out and get back to me, but she didn't. I suspect she didn't understand my pronunciation of my phone number.)

Connotations did mention that there's something on in Newcastle the weekend afterwards which means that hotels are filling up more than usual, but even still you'd think it's early.

Well, I've already booked my con ticket, and I'll call the hotel tomorrow to try to book a twin room. Perhaps my exposure to 1920s throwbacks with estates in Lincolnshire will have given me a comprehensible accent...

Funnily enough, I don't know if I'll be living in Dublin or London this September. If it's with familiar old Ryanair, I'll be arriving in Tynemouth at 8am and sleepwalking throughout the day, and if it's London, I'll take a train that gets me in for lunch.
