You know, if anyone had pitched Fraser/Kowalski to me as "imagine a hilarious Eight/Fitz AU with MOUNTIES!" I would've watched the last two seasons of due South a lot sooner.

I've never seen these seasons but I'd gleaned the gist of the Fraser/RayV reunion through fannish osmosis; or I thought I had, anyway, since I seem to remember a lot of people whining their hearts out at the time about Ray being mean, which I didn't see (he's mildly, jokingly annoyed at Fraser almost blowing his cover, for all of three seconds). And, dude, Fraser standing by his hospital bedside with Full of Grace on the soundtrack is the SLASHIEST THING EVER, although it only holds that record for all of two minutes until RayK steals Fraser back and then it's an orgy of slash until the end credits ("If you'll have me..." killed me dead.) I'm terribly pleased that I know for a fact there's a ton of post-episode fic out there. Before I get to it, though, which season 3 and 4 episodes are best? I should watch them in order, I know, but I've got a lot of stuff on this weekend and I want something fun to watch.

The season three pilot is very important for establishing the tone, the second episode ("Eclipse") sets up exactly how slashy RayK is (and giving us his backstory). Episode 5 ("Seeing is Believing") is just a really fantastic episode, but it has some lovely moment with Fraser and RayK as well. Episode 9 ("Asylum") is, like, an orgy of slashtasticness. The final two episodes of S3 (parts 1&2 of "Mountie on the Bounty") are essential -- they were also my first episodes of the show ever, so they hold a special place in my heart. Fraser does something the wrong way in this that makes one particular moment bursting with slash.

For series 4, I would say 4 ("Odds", featuring the actress who played Lilah Morgan on Angel) and 5 ("The Ladies' Man" -- one of the strongest episodes of the entire series, I think), episode 8 ("Good for the Soul"), and then both episode 10 ("Say Amen", where Fraser and RayK are directly paralleled to a romantic couple) and 11 ("Hunting Season", which sets up a character that will be used in much of the post-series fic that you might read) are all lovely to watch. And, of course you already saw the finale.

"Mountie on the Bounty" is glorious in its insanity. And even I saw the moment you're talking about and I am rubbish with the slash-goggles!

Because it's not standard! That's not the way that you're supposed to do it. It was an active choice by Fraser to do it the wrong way and I love him for it (even if it's far far too poorly-lit).

I love that episode.

Also! For when you've seen enough of the show to want to read stuff, here is my delicious bookmark page (http://delicious.com/butterflydm/fraser%2Fkowalski) for some starter Fraser/Kowalski.

My daughter and I basically mainlined dS, so I'm not terribly bright at picking out which episodes are best objectively; I will say, however, that for fic-reading purposes it's 100% necessary to watch Burning Down the House, Eclipse, Asylum, Strange Bedfellows, Bounty Hunter, Mounty on the Bounty, The Ladies Man, Odds, and Hunting season.

And also, if you've got the stamina, I spent the whole month of August 2008 maundering on about Due South in my journal, with extensive recs on most days; I also failed spectacularly at indexing the posts or getting them up on delicious. There are, however, the beginnings of a recs index the first week in September.

LOL for Eight/Fitz AU! Not mentioned yet but I liked Dead Guy Running 'cause I find it hellishly amusing. The Ladies Man is really good.

...oops?

Before I get to it, though, which season 3 and 4 episodes are best?

All of the episodes that [livejournal.com profile] butterfly suggested are pretty much the exact ones I was going to mention. Especially "Mountie on the Bounty," which you have to watch.
