I've run memes like this before for companions and for ships (and I'm trying to dig up links to those) and decided it might be fun to try one for all the episodes of old school Doctor Who. In the comments are threads for every story from An Unearthly Child to The TV Movie (actually, The Curse of Fatal Death, because I couldn't leave Lumley Doc out); reply to these comments with what you loved about the episode, whether it's favourite lines, moments, squee for the rubbish dinosaurs, character love, shippiness, screencap picspam, or just 'best episode ever'. No harshing others' squee, please - there are 160 serials linked, there must be some you loved... Loving on stories generally derided by fandom is positively encouraged.

For some help navigating, this wiki page has the serials in order.

If any have been missed, feel free to stick them on at the end - I've just realised The Myth Makers isn't there...

Paul McGann's Doctor is just so very very beautiful, both in looks and characterisation.

Me too, there's just something about him, whenever I see/read/hear him I just think "yes, he's my Doctor."

Ah, the pretty, the non-wobbly sets, the music, the pretty (and did I mention the pretty...?), the sense of optimism and adventure, medicine's answer to Penelope Pitstop, the costumes (Daphne Ashbrook's and Eric Roberts' glad-rags, to say nothing of PMG's pretty...), the Ludovico's Technique (ouch!), the Final Argument, even poor ickle Seven and his own variation on the Wilhelm Scream.

There is so very much that's wrong with the plot--as in, most of it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever--but I can't help but love it anyway, and not just because Paul's pretty. Of all the things they got wrong, the Doctor is the one thing they got right, and really, that's what holds it all together for me. The pretty doesn't hurt, though ;)

McGann was such a joyful Doctor. It's a shame that he didn't have more to do. Then again, the Americanization of DW was so very lame. Killer companions, Slime!Master, and the most unDalek-like Daleks ever.

Was there even a reason for the Daleks? I mean, come on, who's going to let them run a court?? Of all the places to try the Master, we pick Skaro? Why not come up with a sane race to run the proceedings? I'm just glad that bit's all dispensed with in the first three minutes so we don't have to think about it again for the rest of the movie, because it makes even less sense than the whole going-back-to-midnight-the-night-before thing at the end. (Though my TVM philosophy is basically "Turn off your brain and enjoy the pretty," so I guess it doesn't matter, does it?)

Pretty TARDIS, pretty Doctor, pretty big plot holes! :3

Y'know what, fandom's gonna lynch me for this, but: I don't mind Roberts!Master. He's my least favorite, but I don't hate him with a passion.

I think it's like the Slitheen: if he didn't camp it up as much as he did he might come across as genuinely too hide-behind-the-sofa terrifying for Americans.

(Still like his robes, though.)

Perhaps. With the Slitheen, I'd cross-reference to a similar skin-stealing alien-- "Edgar" in Men in Black. Comedy is used to downplay the horror, but it's still genuinely chilling. (Although I don't see why anything might be more terrifying for Americans than anyone else.)

Oh yes, nice robes all right.

Grace! I love Grace. And of course, the lovely, glorious Eight Doctor. I think some plot stuff happens, but I can't remember any of it.

However nonsensical the plot, it gave us the Eighth Doctor, and that just makes it entirely worth it.

Grace is great too. I'm one of the few people, as far as I know, who liked what they did with Seven. And, finally, the movie did keep me entertained the whole time -- turn off your brain and go along for the ride!

I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie to pieces. <3 Eight is just perfect (and pretty, yeah), and it entertained me the entire way through despite the overall crazy. Actually, it might have been because of the overall crazy. XD

The plot is ridiculously off the wall, and Roberts!Master is...something else, but Paul McGann's Doctor is brilliant, and it also has one of the best TARDIS interiors ever.

Without the TVM I wouldn't be the fan I am today, 'cos it was the EDAs that got me back into Who properly.

*nods* The EDAs have made me much more fannish about classic Who than I might have been otherwise.

Paul McGann is great, and also pretty. And the scenes of him waking up in the morgue and wandering around the hospital, naked and amnesiac, are kind of heart-wrenching.

Plus, without the TV movie there would be no Eighth Doctor Adventure novels, and therefore no Fitz, and that would be tragic.

*waves Big Finish flag* And there would be no Charley either. More tragedy averted by the TV movie!

It has Eight. I LOVE EIGHT HARDCORE. And without Eight, there'd be no EDAs! And he wanders around in only a sheet. AND HE'S SO ADORABLY GLEEFUL :D I love Eight!

I may have decided that the TV Movie is entirely from the Doctor's POV, and the Doctor was on CRACK, but that doesn't mean I don't love it.

Grace is lovely, and Eight is brilliant, and we now have his audios and EDAs so it was all totally worth it.
