I've run memes like this before for companions and for ships (and I'm trying to dig up links to those) and decided it might be fun to try one for all the episodes of old school Doctor Who. In the comments are threads for every story from An Unearthly Child to The TV Movie (actually, The Curse of Fatal Death, because I couldn't leave Lumley Doc out); reply to these comments with what you loved about the episode, whether it's favourite lines, moments, squee for the rubbish dinosaurs, character love, shippiness, screencap picspam, or just 'best episode ever'. No harshing others' squee, please - there are 160 serials linked, there must be some you loved... Loving on stories generally derided by fandom is positively encouraged.

For some help navigating, this wiki page has the serials in order.

If any have been missed, feel free to stick them on at the end - I've just realised The Myth Makers isn't there...

This serial is special to me for two reasons -
1.) Being the first serial for Tegan, who I love dearly and identify with somewhat more strongly than is healthy and
2.) For being the serial which finally persuaded my best friend that Slash is not always in my mind. The glorious moment with the Doctor and the Master grappling on the catwalk of the radio telescope where they really really look like they're snogging (I looked for a screenshot but was thwarted in my plans) finally broke her and opened her eyes to the wonderful world of slash.

Ok, so they're really shallow reasons, but shhhh! It's also a great serial, and the collaboration, however short lived, between the Doctor and the Master really helps highlight that they had once been friends.

I love the Master's 'hurrah, BFFs again!' arm around the Doctor's shoulders and Four angrily shoving him off.

I absolutely love this episode.

I love how it is a season finale which is really linked with the other episodes, and ends the season. It has themes in common (entropy, of course, but also how psychic energy can modify reality when canalized with scientific means). I love that it explains the previous episodes (the CVS and how the Tardis came to E-space !) and is explained by them (Nyssa and Tremas backstory).

I love the idea of Logopolis itself. I have to say I studied science ; I've loved mathematics, and the second law of thermodynamics, from a long time. And I fell in love with the idea of a planet of mathematicians, recomputing permanently the universe to prevent it from falling down. Of course, it's not real science, but it's understandable, it's clear, and the science-fantasy part doesn't seem fuzzy like it's often in Doctor Who ; only strangely poetic, at least for me. Block transfer computation is one of my very favourite concepts in Doctor Who. And saving the world from entropy ; it is so interesting, and quite morally ambiguous. Because saving the universe everyday without telling anyone is wonderfully cool, but they do know someone gets the entropy, in another world. And they don't know E-space, and how almost nobody can live here, but we do. Also, I love their polite-and-well-meaning-but-unhuman ways.
I could talk about a planet populated with anonymous aliens for hours. :-)

Also, I do love everyone in this episode, every relationship.

I squee when Four angsts about Romana.
Tegan manages to be overly cool even by not managing to change a tire. Also, I love her categorical opinions about what a good flight is. Or about the rights of workers.
Nyssa has some of my favourite tragic parts in this serial. The part in which she talks with Ainley!Master thinking he is her father is wonderfully cruel. Also, I'm heartbroken at the "I can't see Traken..." part. I'm not sure, but it may be the only bit of all Doctor Who in which she complains about her fate.
I love the unlikely geeky friendship between Adric and Nyssa ; he really likes her ! And the lines "The Earth people use it to beam messages to the stars. The Doctor calls it reiterated invitation to alien intelligences in deep space. - And that's us. - So they'll be very pleased to see us." gets an absolute-cuteness award, by my standards.
And of course, the collaboration from doom between the Doctor and the Master to save the universe, and the so-unwilling handshake (I was squeeing madly at this time) and how they get almost friendly by times "I envy you your Tardis, Master. - Excellent, Doctor. Envy is the beginning of all true greatness." but it ends so, so badly... oh, and a special mention for the Doctor tripping up the Master with his scarf.

(Sorry for the bad grammar, English is not my first language ; I hope I'm understandable. I just wanted to give some love. :-) )

...Everything you said, basically.

Well, except I'm a bit crap at maths, but it all was really poetic, wasn't it? It made me want to like maths, if that makes any sense. I was so sad about Logopolis being destroyed.

On the other hand, the Master destroying more than he ever has by mistake is sort of hilarious, in a tragic way.

My favourite Baker serial! Four/Master OTP FOREVER, DAMMIT. It's just... seriously slashy! Tegan's awesome in it, Nyssa and Adric are geektastically adorable, it's prompted a continuing fascination with thermodynamics ( >.> ), and IT INTRODUCES MY FIVEY :D
