I've run memes like this before for companions and for ships (and I'm trying to dig up links to those) and decided it might be fun to try one for all the episodes of old school Doctor Who. In the comments are threads for every story from An Unearthly Child to The TV Movie (actually, The Curse of Fatal Death, because I couldn't leave Lumley Doc out); reply to these comments with what you loved about the episode, whether it's favourite lines, moments, squee for the rubbish dinosaurs, character love, shippiness, screencap picspam, or just 'best episode ever'. No harshing others' squee, please - there are 160 serials linked, there must be some you loved... Loving on stories generally derided by fandom is positively encouraged.

For some help navigating, this wiki page has the serials in order.

If any have been missed, feel free to stick them on at the end - I've just realised The Myth Makers isn't there...

I hope I'm not alone in thinking that Tobias Vaughn was one of the best Doctor Who villains ever.

There's so much to love about this one. Zoe gets a girlfriend (and a lime green feather boa), the Doctor and Jamie's mutual grabbiness is at an all-time high, the Brigadier is awesome, the Cybermen are actually scary, the use of London locations is fab, and the Doctor pauses in the middle of the action to make sure he looks pretty in Isobel's pictures. Also, there's a helicopter. And Jamie calls the Doctor "a clever wee chappie."

What you said. That about sums it up!

Plus, animation to make up for burnination -- this needs to happen with more serials.

This was my first exposure to Two outside of The Three Doctors and he quickly became one of my Tier 2 Doctors (the tiering system is this:

Tier 1: Your Doctor
Tier 2: Doctors You Love
Tier 3: Doctors You Like
Tier 4: All Other Doctors).

Also, this serial is so full of the HoYay that it's awesome. And Sir Alistar wins at life.

Zoe explodes a computer WITH HER MIND. And then she pretty much single-handedly saves the earth from a Cybermen invasion, while wearing a sparkly catsuit.

Also: It has Isobel lying on the floor like this:

Zoe/Isobel = LOVE

The new version is so much better than the old one. Still, Brig! Benton! UNIT! All awesome. Would have liked to have seen more of the computer stuff like this in the Third Doctor era.

That shot of the Cybermen marching down the street is still breath-taking. The Cybermen are much more frightening than Daleks, any road. The encounter scenes in the tunnels remind me of the better D&D campaigns that I played in, back in the day. The fear of the unknown is perfectly realized in the writing and acting and directing and photography.

Zoe in the boa and Isobel who writes on walls -- those micro-mini-dresses were wild! But it is what many young ladies were wearing. :)

The Brig and UNIT being awesome, a proper secret military organisation, both more competent and more decent than Torchwood! Zoe kicking serious ass with maths (and she makes talking a computer to death more fun than Captain Kirk ever did)! An excellent villain, with interesting confrontations between him anf the Doctor! Cybermen on the steps of St Pauls! Also, the scriptwriters predicted the Walkman/ iPod.

It's really quite astonishing how much of this they nicked for 'Age of Steel/ Rise of the Cybermen' too...
