I've run memes like this before for companions and for ships (and I'm trying to dig up links to those) and decided it might be fun to try one for all the episodes of old school Doctor Who. In the comments are threads for every story from An Unearthly Child to The TV Movie (actually, The Curse of Fatal Death, because I couldn't leave Lumley Doc out); reply to these comments with what you loved about the episode, whether it's favourite lines, moments, squee for the rubbish dinosaurs, character love, shippiness, screencap picspam, or just 'best episode ever'. No harshing others' squee, please - there are 160 serials linked, there must be some you loved... Loving on stories generally derided by fandom is positively encouraged.

For some help navigating, this wiki page has the serials in order.

If any have been missed, feel free to stick them on at the end - I've just realised The Myth Makers isn't there...

Don't get smart in French.
One kicks ass, even in his fab hat.

Where possible, I'm finding my reviews of episodes to cut in relevant bits. This one was AWESOME, and everyone should see it, even if the recons were unfun. Listen:

The Doctor was brilliant in this - pretending to be an official, tricking people, hitting the jailer over the head with a bottle (though damn you, BBC, that was a recon episode and so we only heard about it, didn't see it!)

We also got to see Robespierre (and they even did the shooting him in the jaw thing, offscreen, but then he was holding his jaw and at the prison he can't stand up on his own and you're like, dude, violent, and it's awesome. And we saw Napoleon! And Paris and the Conciergerie and burning farmhouses and brave little scamps saving the Doctor from a fiery death. And Ian and Barbara running a bar omgwtfYAY. Ian's pretend French accent had me falling all over the place. Add to that turncoats, traitors, Jules et Jean et Leon, incidental music that just kept weirdly riffing on La Marseillaise, Barbara's impassioned speech about "reading your history books" and the gorgeous sense of fatalism attached to the entire last episode, when they're rushing about to stop something that can't be stopped - terrific stuff.

Conclusion: historicals = TEH AWESOME.
