I am nominally reading papers with a mind to redrafting my literature review, and actually having a think about which characters in non-Doctor Who fandoms are Time Lords who've been through a chameleon arch and turned human, either because it would Explain So Much, it would lead to hilarious consequences when the watch was opened, or it just amuses me. Jeeves from Jeeves and Wooster, obviously. Bernard from Black Books. Giles from Buffy. Jane from Coupling (either she of Jeff would be magnificent companions, by the way.) Anyone from Red Dwarf...? Maybe Kochanski, since she regenerated and no-one noticed. The Stig, of course.

Who are yours? And why is this not a fic challenge yet?

JAMES FREAKING BOND.

And possibly Albus Dumbledore who is so totally Four, anyway.

Not wrong at all! My first thought was Flava Flav (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flava_flav), who was such an important Time Lord that he got a really huge watch. (And the stand-in President of Gallifrey in Five's time was a woman called Flavia. It all fits.)

Now wonder the Flav girls wear those school girl uniforms on Charm School. He's asked Mo to find Romana!

*ponders* How about House?

James Bond- given his habit of regenerating.
Similarly Miss Marple.
And given (a) his umbrella (b) being manipulative and (c) his many kickass/pretty female companions, surely John Steed.

I will maintain to my dying day that, not only is House the Master, but that James Wilson is quite obviously the Doctor.

Cuddy is Romana, and Cut-Throat Bitch is clearly the Rani.
Kutner is Drax and Foreman is Braxiatel.
Talb is that annoying Castellan in 'Invasion of Time'.
Thirteen is Flavia.

Chase may or may not be a strange AU version of Theta.

I also suspect that Cameron is some sort of extra-terrestial lifeform, but I have been unable as yet to obtain any concrete evidence.

Yes.

In related news, I would love to see a fic challenge with this theme.

It would make my day and, quite possibly, my year as well.

All of this has gone straight into my personal canon. Love it.

Cuddy is Romana, and Cut-Throat Bitch is clearly the Rani.

WIN.

May the truth spread!

These diverting-yet-disturbing thoughts have been crowding my poor, undersized brain for far, far too long. Thank you for finally giving them an outlet!

Bertie seems to think so too - the chapter I've just finished reading has him speculating on whether Jeeves is telepathic and/or can teleport.

And also Margot from The Good Life, judging by her innate snootiness and predilection for flowing robes...

I'd say someone like Dumbledore, but I'm not entirely sure that'd work.

Possibly Travis from Blake's 7. >_> Because I say so. I think any time you have an actor mysteriously change faces without explanation/cast noticing, it's a good indication s/he's a sekrit time lord. (Oh, hey, Dumbledore fits because of that, too! Ha!)

I like that, because they're time lords, they literally could be deposited anywhere, anytime, so you're not really constrained to make them all humans.

Darius Jedburgh from Edge of Darkness (a very Six-like Doctor, I'm thinking). The Bill Nighy character from State of Play (when I start in on my "Bill Nighy for Eleven!" thing, this is the character/personality type I'm envisioning). I have long had my suspicions about the awesome Miss Rumford of "Stones of Blood." Oh, and (he counts as a "television character," he did have his own chat show for ages) if the recently deceased William F. Buckley, Jr. wasn't a Time Lord of the torment-the-Doctor-with-fiendish-levels-of-bureaucracy variety I'll eat my hat.

ETA: Oh, and I forget his name, but the Ecstasy-addled bike messenger in Spaced.

I would truly love if Fred and George Weasley were somehow the Doctor and the Master, made to look the same by a scheming... someone.

Also:
Vince Noir from The Mighty Boosh.
Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files (books, mind you, not TV series).
Integra Hellsing (=Romana 1) from Hellsing.

This really does need a fic challenge, doesn't it?

Not sure if you're familiar with the fandom, but I'd submit that Horatio Hornblower and/or his book-sidekick William Bush from C.S. Forester's books could be fobwatched Time Lord CIA agents, making sure that nobody mucks around with the critical bits of Earth history during the Napoleonic Wars except them.
(If you're going with the A&E/ITV miniseries version, you could even have Bush as a fobwatched Eight.)
