1000 words into my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fic - about a third of the way there, I reckon - and still four days to the deadline! That's better than the last three years. I got lucky with my assignment this time; it's a source I really enjoyed when it was new but hadn't seen since then, and reaquainting myself with it's made me fall for it madly.

I'm not the only one obsessively refreshing the site to see how many stories have been posted, am I?

No.

I blame the "randomly selected fandom" thingy--it's fun to see what fandoms are being written.

Well, now you're not.

And do we know 'how many out of' that figure is? 137 out of 500, or 137 out of 1,500? It seems important, somehow.

*basks in being among the 137*

It's now 147 out of 891 (if everybody submits one story, I suppose some people might do more - theoretically I could write in all 3 of my requested fandoms if I had the source to refresh my memory but I'm not that masochistic...)

I always mean to find this out: is there an archive of previous years of Yuletide?

[identity profile] espresso-addict.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but the search page is closed while this year's stories are being submitted. If you have the url you can still view them, I think -- there were loads of recs posted to the comm the other year.

I'm sixteen hundred words into mine, still nowhere near done. But I won't start panicking until the night before.

Oh good lord, I just hit the link and discovered my newly obsessive work block-every-bloody-site-on-the-internet security has banned me from viewing it under the category 'Sex'.

I do hope I don't get an email from the IT chaps on Monday...

It's the "written fandoms" bit - I have to see what's been going up. Have to.

I got mine back from my beta and am probably uploading tonight, woo! Good luck finishing yours. :)

Already, I cannot wait to read this. :-D

Out of curiosity (and I am about to appear WOEFULLLY ignorant), how does Yuletide work? Are you allowed to talk about what you're writing? 'Cause I'm curious now...what the hell are you writing?

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2006-12-16 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! What we're writing is super-sekrit (which is a pain because I've been flailing for a week about it being the obvious ancestor of new Who) - the stories are anon when they go up on Christmas Day, authors are revealed at New Year's.

So flail in Semagic and post the flailations on 2/1 :)

Yay for you! You're a thousand words ahead of me. *g*

Currently doing the smug dance of the just passed 1000 words, so I reckon you should celebrate! And god no on the refreshing, I've been doing it since the start when it was just on three for ages.

OH GOD, OH GOD, OH GOD, OH GOD, I CAN'T EVEN WHINE ABOUT IT PROPERLY BECAUSE IT WOULD BE TOO REVEALING BUT OH GOD OH GOD.
