(no subject)

My glut of Amazon packages continued today with the new Second Doctor DVD, The Invasion. I'e never seen this, only heard the audio, because it's a Jamie and Zoe one and I wanted to hold off until it was remastered rather than watch the poor-quality download. So worth it. I'm two episodes in and suddenly remembering why this TARDIS team pwns all: Zoe happily opts out of all that silly investigating aliens stuff in favour of posing for Isabelle, a gorgeous photographer with the World's Shortest Skirt and a tendency to roll around on the floor to get a shot (is there femslash? THERE SHOULD BE) while Jamie is easily bought off with shiny trinkets (the story's Lumic equivalent is "a very nice man" for giving Jamie a portable radio. God knows what he'd say if handed an iPod.)

ETA: Holy shit, Rumsfeld resigned? What? (I would say it's terribly sad that I follow American politics more avidly than local, but my MP is Ian 'no surrender' Paisley who will no doubt continue to get a whopping majority years after he dies. So the American stuff's a tiny bit less depressing.)

Is the animation good? I'm so looking forward to that. I watched it because the downloads you sent me were okay (and the recons were actually really fabulous) and I really wanted to see it, but I am so looking forward to the DVD coming out here so I can see it again and see the animation, yay!

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the animation: bits of it look great but others look like cheaply-done Flash (apparently they only had two people working on it.) Movement especially looks badly done. Still, I suppose they had to have something there.

Huh, that's a real shame. I wonder if they'll try harder for future releases... The recons for that serial were of excellent quality, clear photos, well done subtitles, little clips, etc. I was hoping for even more from the animation, cos I'm greedy. Oh well, at least it's a wee animated Two. :D

The Invasion is fab - I'm looking forward to seeing the animation!

And yes, Rumsfeld resigned, hooray!!!

Well, we have dead voters, why not dead politicians? Seriously, I do sometimes wonder what'll happen to the DUP and the Free P's when Paisley dies.

Ian Junior will drop off the map and Donaldson & co will take over. And the words Hell and Handbasket come to mind.

Well, pretty much anyone would be an improvement on big Ian. Well, apart from Bush.

There's potential for a fabulous sitcom there.

What, Shrub joins the DUP after his time runs out in 2008? Now we have Torchwood: Belfast and a sort of Yes, Ministe on drugs--what should we call it?

Yeah, Rummy's gone. Last night's election was a pretty clear signal that Americans are fed up with the status quo. Rumsfeld and the war haven't been polling well for a long time and he's been coming in for some high-profile criticism, including an editorial printed in the official newspaper of the Armed Services that opined that he should resign. One has to wonder if there isn't a bit of the sacrificial lamb to it -- the Bush administration's way of saying "all right, all right, look, we're changing things OKAY?" Or it could just be that Rummy didn't want to deal with a Democratic-controlled Congress -- Democrats control the House, if there's a God in heaven they'll control the Senate, and the Republicans had been running things since 1994.

It's going to be an interesting couple of years, though. One wonders if anything is really going to change.

Even just the audio version was one of the best Doctor Who stories I've heard - really looking forward to seeing it all.

Amazon?! You have failed me for the last time, Doyle...

You should be buying your DW DVDs from Sendit! You know why.

Mind you, I see that Amazon is actually cheaper for that one. That's new; Sendit have been the cheapest for ages. Of course, with Amazon you don't get free postage unless you buy other stuff to take it up to the minimum amount. Was it cheaper before release too?

I got it about a week ago but haven't watched it yet; will hopefully do so tonight.

I hang my head in shame at benig swayed by Amazon's cheapness... actually it was a thinly veiled excuse to buy some more books.

Oh well, I'll forgive you...this time. ;)

I have a reality TV show idea.

Drug Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams. Take Ian to West Belfast and Gerry to East Belfast. Let them wake up. Provide them each with cell phones. Force them to work together to get out of their own personal hells. See which one suffers a mental breakdown first. If it is Ian, replace him in Parliament with the resurrected corpse of Eamon de Valera. If it is Gerry, replace him with David Lloyd George.
