Like last week, I thought it was cheesetastic good fun, though frustratingly didn't answer most of my questions about the parallel reality (why are there troops on the streets? What did President Rassilon - not his real name - mean about the world being sick? Are there other Preachers or is it now just Mickey and Jake?) Ah well, there's always epic Jake/Ricky backstory seguing into Jake and Mickey falling in love and fighting Cybermen in Paris fanfic.

I'm a bit obsessed with the whole parallel universe idea in general. Who else from the Whoniverse (sorry) is around? Harriet? Shareen? The Brig? I bet Ace is a Preacher, though that was done in a fairly crap V-For-Vendetta-ripoff EDA called The Domino Effect. (In that Ace is a terrorist called Dee who's planning to blow up the Tower of London. The Doctor's companion is captured, tortured and hears the story of another prisoner who was locked up for being gay. Seriously. I didn't catch it till I saw the V For Vendetta movie, then I just groaned.)

Anyway, back to the episode. Mickey = so much win. And Mrs Moore's a contender for my favourite one-off character ever, and that's up agaisnt some stiff competition. And there were more zeppelins! And a Five Doctors reference proving that the President last week WAS Rassilon, somehow!

I knew Mickey was going to leave and I'd guessed how, but still felt pretty emotional about it. I wanted more episodes with him in the TARDIS team, dammit: even one, given how necessarily sidelined he was in Girl Inna Fireplace. He's grown on me so much as a character, and just to be shallow, Noel Clarke looks really hot with a shaved head. And no shirt. And a tattoo.

I need to write either Rose/Jo (backup for [livejournal.com profile] dw_femslash) or Mickey/Jake. This may necessitate borrowing my dad's laptop as I'm at my parents'. Note to self: remember to delete it this time.

Also, if I was a gigantic whore I would point at [livejournal.com profile] itsabigrock's anon love meme. OH NOES LOOK WHAT I DID.

Speaking of whores, someone on a Yahell list suggested DW fans be called Who-ers rather than Whovians. Someone has never been to certain bits of the North of England or Belfast, then...

And a Five Doctors reference
As soon as it was clear they were going in on a 3-pronged strategy, I was thinking "Who unto Rassilon's tower does go..." myself! And then the Doctor says it! "A 3-pronged attack; above, between, below"! I very nearly let out a little fanboy-ish squee myself! :D

There was another Pink Floyd reference in this week's episode too (albeit a rather tenuous and fleeting one), further cementing my theory that the writer is a hyooooooge Floyd fan. When they're staring at Battersea, the Doctor makes a reference to the people being herded in like Sheep. :)
(What? I told you it was tenuous!)

:D
