Ninjas! Werewolves! Queen Victoria! I'm an easy sell on all those things, particularly the wolfy one, so I was bound to like this one, but I loved it. Doctor Dances-level love.

The Doctor's reaction to seeing the werewolf: pandemonium, everyone around him screaming, and he stops dead and says "oh, that's beautiful." *Yes*. Perfect. And not just because it enables crossovers with Nina or Oz or both. And describing books as the ultimate weapon, and a library as the perfect arsenal: the scene with them frantically researching werewolves was so Buffyish and wonderful.

The background characters were marvellous. I wish we could have seen more of Flora and Isabel, and I love how proactive everyone is here rather than relying on the Doctor to save them, with Rose getting the prisoners to free themselves (bit different from her "the Doctor's not around to save us so we do nothing" in The Christmas Invasion) and then Isabel working out how to stop the werewolf.

They could have done with cutting at least one "we are not amused" joke and the first reference to Torchwood, but all in all I thought it was easily RTD's best so far.

ETA: so many little things I keep remembering. The Doctor's love of The Muppets. "This wee naked child..." And using Jamie's name! I was spoiled for that months ago but it still gave me a happy moment. And I howled like a wolf omg at the Doctor's story about buying Rose for sixpence.

I have so much love for Isabel, yes! There was cheering.

I was not spoiled for the Jamie ref and thus squeaked aloud like an idiot.

Undoubtedly RTD's best yet. It was like someone had sat him down and made him watch Unquiet Dead and Empty Child and said 'This is how to do it, Russell' (shame they didn't do that before New Earth carp whine). Agree they overdid the Torchwood refs, but it was a joy, really. Yay, werewolves!

I'm getting really freaked out by Torchwood. What is Jack doing in an anti-Doctor Institute??

:( Either Jack doesn't know, or there's going to be one hell of a cliffhanger at the end of the season with Torchwood kidnapping the Doctor or something...

(Were Torchwood sitting on their backsides in the 1970s when he was working for UNIT?)

Meep. I hope that doesn't happen. I can't stand a year-long cliffhanger.

Were Torchwood sitting on their backsides in the 1970s when he was working for UNIT?

Yeah, exactly. Perhaps they've sort of become confused over the years.

As Doctor John Smith?
Maybe they were insufficiently inquisitive.

Wasn't it good? I don't think I'll ever forget the sight of Queen Victoria hitching up her skirts and legging it along the hallway!

This episode made me elevenity kinds of happy. *bounces*

I will have to rewatch, though, as my sister kept on distracting me. Poor girl was shoving the blanket over her head everytime the werewolf (and what a fantastic werewolf at that) reared its scary, scary head.

How much did I love their laugh when they fell on the TARDIS? Hee.

I must go find more Ten icons. He is so adorable. "Am I being rude?"

Looks like Very Exciting Things of Dramatic Importance are being set up - I cannot wait. I was exteremely spoiled for Series One and now, being (mostly) unspoiled is really quite fun.

This episode kept making me squee. Out loud. And in the Buffyish "I want to hug the screen because it's so shiny" kind of way. And I was actually thinking, "Maybe Rose has learned something from the Xmas Invasion incident--sometimes you can't wait for help to come to you, sometimes you have to help yourself."
