I'm watching Gillian "not allowed to call herself a doctor any more" McKeith on TV. She's the mad, cadaverous woman who barges into people's lives, insults their weight, examines their poo (I need to not eat during this show) and then makes broad, bollocksy Skientific statements. She is obsessed with zinc this week, which means two things:

1) I will spend the rest of the night remembering that Simpsons episode with the edumacational zinc video. "Zinc! Ziiinc!"
2) My boss, who worships the fake-Doctor, will be on about zinc deficiency at work tomorrow. I'd better study up. She did not appreciate my sarcasm when I suggested Dr Gillian's much-touted smoothie breakfasts work because pink is the favourite colour of the magic imps that take energy round the body.

I hate that woman passionately. I want to shove her alfalfa sprouts up her arse and perform the quinoa-grain equivalent of Japanese water torture on her stupid hook-nosed face. Stop telling these people they must only eat three leaves of spinach and a mung bean dipped in pondweed every other day, woman! OK, so they need to cut down a bit on the doughnuts, but there's such a thing as moderation, you know.

Ahem. Sorry. She really makes me want to hit the television.

All those people are so fat they'd be about 50% healthier if they just stopped eating altogether.

People thought she was a medical doctor (rather than having an honorary PhD or whatever it is she has) and I think the trading standards lot got her.

As (in a broad sense) a science educator, I understand that it's tough to present science accurately and entertainingly. But it seems like some people -- like this woman -- don't even try and that drives me nuts.

An absolute classic of hers is that green plants contain chlorophyll... and this makes oxygen... so you should eat lots of green stuff as oxygen=yay!

As was pointed out in the 'Bad Science' program segment which critiqued this: where is the sunlight meant to come from in this equation? And also, we don't have gills in our bowel.
