The post today brought me presents! Books from [livejournal.com profile] nostalgia_lj and episodes from [livejournal.com profile] paratti and a book and magazines from [livejournal.com profile] roseveare *luvs*

The magazines are Doctor Who ones from the 80s and they are genius. I love the companion bios (Zoe's only 12? What?! Um, I feel really bad for shipping her with Two and Jamie, now.)

"If it had not been for the Time Lords' interference Jamie would still be with the Doctor today." - Scottish people having that little known ability to live to 500.

"Secretly, Victoria had hoped that Jamie might stay with her." - secretly, would this writer be a Jamie/Victoria shipper?

"The Doctor was rather taken with [Sarah]'s cute smile" - and Three/Sarah, in addition to:

"Having stowed away aboard the TARDIS [Adric] soon built up a love/hate relationship with the Doctor brought about by Adric's youthful exhuberance (sic) and the Time Lord's stubborness. They were partners with a healthy respect for each other and were only separated by Adric's sudden death..." - yeah, that sudden death'll get you every time.

"As [Turlough] and the Doctor become closer he is torn between loyalty and self-preservation" - I've read that fic. There was more bondage in it than this magazine would imply.

"[The Doctor] tried to revive the dormant areas of [Leela]'s mind and bring her back to her true level of intelligence. He had very little success, although he did manage to change the colouring of her eyes from brown to blue." - that made me laugh for about ten minutes. You don't need to be TEH SMARTS if you are TEH HOTS!!

"Harry soon realised that the Doctor just was not the ideal patient as he was constantly disappearing from his bed" - *howls*

Am I sad enough to pull out the posters of Turlough and Nyssa and put them on my wall?

Was there ever any doubt?

The sad part is that I remember reading those magazines. (From '84 to '89, I had a subscription to DWM; it was my annual birthday present from my father. I also bought up every back issue I could get my grubby little hands on. It's a real pity that I sold them off in the mid-90s.)

Those comments did not seem nearly so off-color at the time. (Of course, in '84, I was thirteen.)

*snorts* god I remember those mags. They were shippier than a list full of HP fans. And full of inaccuracies..

I'm glad they got there.

Completely ignores the 12 thing. The girl does not look 12. 21 maybe.

I've got your stuff burned, will be posting tomorrow. (Zoe can't be 12. No 12 year old is as... developed, shall we say, as she is in that spangly cantsuit. Ooh, and I'm reading a Two novel called The Indestructible Man that is the most OT3 thing that ever was: the whole set-up seems to exist to lead up to much h/c and angsting and professions of love.)

Thanks:)

That was definitely the body of an adult woman. Education can be as developed as it likes, biology takes longer.

That book sounds great. Slaps it on the wish list.

There used to be a Tegan poster, I think, but it was on my wall for years and now I do not know where it went. Um. *shuffles feet*

Glad it reached you okay - I meant to email to say I'd sent it Thursday, but then it was yesterday before I remembered!

Also what's the picture on the front of Love and War? Is that Bernice? Is she fighting a humanoid testicle?

I was going to say that it's clearly Paul Cornell's Mary-Sue Bernice because it looks nothing like my beloved Ace, but actually with NA covers that's never a given. At all. Ever. Also yes she is fighting a humanoid testicle.
