doyle: tardis (doctor - 10th (my doctor))
[personal profile] doyle
Is it March yet? I needs the new series of Doctor Who. I needs it.

- Oh God, Harriet. I had read The Independent's article which spoiled the ending but it hadn't registered and in the last five minutes I was thinking 'but they got it wrong, she didn't launch the missile' and then she gave Torchwood the go-ahead and... *weeps* And the Doctor ruining her career (? Does he? Because history says she served three terms, according to Aliens of London...), coming so close after her 'my Doctor', made me bawl.

- I did wonder if they went to all the trouble of making those big UNIT HQ sets just for one episode. Hmm.

- Ten! TenTenTenTenTen! Who knows the lyrics to Circle of Life and has glasses (I had a moment of Five-squee; his wardrobe does seem to be a darker Five) and who MET ARTHUR DENT. I knew I'd love Ten - I've loved every one of them so far, and I will glare hard in the general direction of those who hate on Six or Seven - but I'm delighted to love him this much.

- Aw, Mickey. I already liked Mickey, but this was the first time I really liked Jackie, and I adored the four-way hug at the end. And I could really go for some Ten/Mickey. Or Ten/Jackie. Or Mickey/Jackie. Or Harriet/anyone.

- Speaking of Harriet/anyone, her hug with Rose and calling her a precious thing: RTD, this femslasher sincerely thanks you.

- I got accidentally spoiled yesterday for the Luke Skywalker moment, but it still made me gasp. Is that new canon, the 15 hour regeneration gap? Neatly explains how Romana was able to change her bodies. Possibly.

- Aww, Ten turning up for Christmas dinner and wearing a paper hat. Not something I can imagine Nine doing.

- I loved, loved, loved the TARDIS not translating the language because she just isn't working properly while the Doctor's so ill, and I had my fingers crossed the whole episode for the language to suddenly turn into English and it did and I squeed. (And during our hour-long dissection over the phone after the episode, [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast said 'but that means as soon as the TARDIS left Troy in The Myth Makers... god, poor Vicki.' Which is what I've had kicking around in my head about that episode for ages. Vindication!)

- Sarah-Jane's not one of my favourite old-school companions since her era's still one I haven't seen a lot of, but it was amazing seeing her in the trailer (may I say, she's still quite a babe). And K9! And ASH! School Reunion will just be an acronym fest. I wonder which episode has Rose jumping the Doctor, as well...

Anyway, if any of you need me, I'll be in my shed building a time machine to take me to March. (Actually I'll be in my bedroom hoarding old school videos, Big Finish audios and the PDAs/EDAs and chanting 'it's okay, I can get my canon fix from these!' Who fandom, what have you done to me?)

Omg that bit where Jackie's laying asleep across a bit of the bed and Rose comes in and she's like "OMG I can't believe he'd do this!" I did go "What, shag your mother?"

Oh, I totally forgot the Circle of Life bit! That was fantastic.

And go you on making the Romana-regeneration link - that's totally not something I would have thought of.

What happened in the Myth Makers?

One left Vicki - 16 years old and from the 25th century, AFAIR - in ancient Troy because she'd taken to calling herself Cressida, fallen in love with a bloke called Troilus, and One decided their love was clearly fated to be.

Which is fine and dandy, until he buggers off and presumably leaves her unable to speak or understand the language...

Hmmmm... one could easily fanwank that to say that the TARDIS departs, leaving your brain altered to understand that language, which would suggest a one-time alteration which happens immediately on landing. And lets not forget poor Peri who ended up with Brian Blessed as well (hope the TARDIS also turned the the volume for her :P)

I need a tenth Doc icon. *woe*

*deep breath* It's Christmas, the Doctor's unconscious and possibly dying due to regeneration trauma, some evil Santas and Christmas trees attack, a space probe disappears, aliens take over 2 billion people's minds, Harriet Jones and UNIT get involved, a big ass spaceship hovers over London Independence Day style, the Doctor is revived by tea in time to save the day. It is awesome. Oh, and we get to see the wardrobe room, which got me all geekily excited.

I swear RTD stole the idea from this icon....

Apples and satsumas and six words and Lion King gags and SQUEEEEEEEE. And a whole different set of squee-ing at the previews, which needed careful rewinding and loads of rewatching. I did notice the Cyberman was next to that wheel at the end....

Sooo, you got the recorder. Does this mean theres a TCI copy for watching in the house next week?

Cause there's only so long I can read my flist with my eyes squinched up to skip spoilers...

Ten should take Mickey aside next time they come home and Rose is spending time with her mum, and go have tea with him in a cafe. Perhaps by the sea somehow. And tell him about alien planets, and show him pictures, and tell him to ignore Rose (slightly) and her blonde, blonde hair. And then walk him back to his apartment, and have casual/awkward chats with him. And sex. And take him off in secret to see alien planets where lives are not in danger. And hold his hand. Maybe.

Harriet Jones/'her right hand man' = background!OTP

*brain asplodes*

...so are you going to write that one or am I? *g*

on 2005-12-26 11:48 pm (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] girlofprey.livejournal.com
:D We could write it together!

I think that might as close as I'm going to get to 'writing it' in a while. Even though some of the scenes and the cafe and a variety of looks on Mickey's face are perfectly realised in my brain. Things go wonky when you try to actually put them into WORDS though. And I have far, far too much work to do. Also a variety of tiny, intense fandoms that seem to have come to life over the holidays. I wish I didn't sleep. Then my life would be better. :(

I need a "you have to write this" icon. Preferably with Ten looking suitably manic and overjoyed.

Please to be imagining this.

(In other words, I love that idea)

Posted by [identity profile] girlofprey.livejournal.com
I'm all in favour of Ten looking manic and overjoyed, whatever the situation ;)

Thank you :) It's nice to know I'm not completely crazy/on my own in this subset of fandom. I'm imagining it, but writing it might be a bit beyond me for a while. I have work. Too much work. And a variety of plotbunnies nibbling at my mental ankles. I should have a farm for them. But it would probably end up being a battery-style place, since there are just TOO MANY, and no good would come of it.

That was slightly surreal. In conclusion: Ten/Mickey = yes, and I might write it, foolishly, when I should be working, but I make no promises.

*grin* Always.

Mickey/Ten makes sense, though.

Work's the worst. Hope it eases up a bit.

I think I'm getting vampire crack squirrels lately. Like plotbunnies, but more vicious and slightly insane. *laughs* Talk of plotbunnies often gets surreal.

I should write some myself, when I've seen what Ten's like. And thanks for the lovely scenario, anyway. Didn't mean to sound as if I were demanding it.

Ten/Harriet Jones/her right hand man threesome. *nods* Also, jammies. There should be more of Ten in jammies. Often. And then hot angry Ten/Harriet Jones sex, and with post-coital call to head of Torchwood, who is Jack, because it was his ship that crashlanded ten years ago...

*take deep breath*

Anyone else hoping that RTD is setting Adam Garcia up for a regular or recurring role in Torchwood? As Jack's luvah, one can only hope.

I'm keeping everything crossed for it... (I'm also hoping RTD will follow his pattern of 'massive attention-grabbing sex scene twenty minutes into the first episode', a la Queer as Folk and Casanova)

Maybe that way, if a Time Lord is too appalled with his or her new appearance, he/she can make a few last-minute alterations! :-)

(And yeah, I do hope Vicki wasn't left translation-less after The Myth Makers!)

I hated that bit, especially after the lovely bit when she told Dubya (would it still be Dubya at that point?) to go to hell. It sort of spoiled the ep. for me, a bit.

But the bit with the Doctor saying he could bring her down with six words, and then going and whispering to the aide—so much like Nine, didn't you think? I love this new Doctor already. Cunning of RTD to have him all sick and vulnerable and cuddly and disarming in this first one, wasn't it?

Aw, Mickey. I already liked Mickey, but this was the first time I really liked Jackie, and I adored the four-way hug at the end.
Did you hear the radio programme last Thursday where Camille Cordury said basically that Jackie had fancied the Doctor from the first time she wsaw him ("There's a strange man in my bedroom"), and that's one of the reasons she's so pissed off with him, coz he took her daughter instead of her. :D

And I have to say, the teaser trailer at the end did sort of leave me saying "I'm going to sleep now, wake me up when March begins!" :D Just David's cry of pure joy at seeing K9! Just like a little boy seeing his favourite pet dog after it's come out of quarantine! Awwww, bless! ;D

I've just seen this, and OH MY GOD I could wind up with a new favorite Doctor. *clings to Five* Because, well, I'm a sucker for a traumatic regeneration, obviously, and I <3 Ten so much. He knows the Lion King. HE MET ARTHUR DENT. He rules.

And now I want angsty Ten/Jack (because I missed Jack) where Jack was in charge of Torchwood, and Ten comes to shout at him and discovers it's him, and Jack doesn't know and Ten may, possibly, be using his old UNIT alias for reasons I don't quite know at the moment. (Of course, I also have a gen thing in my head where Ten goes to visit a quite elderly Brigadier, too. And I am about a billion years behind on *everything* so perhaps I should shut up now.)

Sarah Jane was the first companion I really remember--I saw The Five Doctors first, but it's all a bit overwhelming, and then they started with whatever's right after Robot (they skipped the regeneration story first time through), and so seeing her after all this time just gave me joyful squees. If Five is My Doctor, Sarah is My Companion. So I'm overjoyed not only on the "ooh! old companion" front, but because I'm getting to see a character I loved madly during my teens.
