Still on the Eighth Doctor books. Still doing quite a bit of fangirling over the Eight/Fitz. Also The Turing Test, which does not have Fitz but does have (unrequited) Eight/Alan Turing historical RPS.

The Doctor stood up, a look of amazement on his face, and then to Fitz's considerable surprise he bounded over, grabbed his head and planted a kiss squarely on his lips. "Oh, Fitz! Fitz, Fitz, Fitz! I'm so glad you're alive!"

Fitz staggered back, overwhelmed. "Glad to see you too." he murmured, feeling himself blushing under Professor Nagel's stare of amazement and mirth.

- Dominion

The Doctor took Fitz's hand and kissed it delicately.

- Stephen Cole, To The Slaughter - may not be the exact wording as I skimmed it in the bookshop and reluctantly decided I couldn't buy it based on one line, however lovely.

[Fitz has been brainwashed into loving a woman called Carmodi. Near the end of the book, as the bad guys are about to kill the Doctor Carmodi is trying to make her excape, with Fitz in tow:]
Carmodi was pushing him hard in the small of his back towards the ramp. "Forget him!"

Fitz stood his ground. What was he doing? Leaving the Doctor to fend for himself? What was he thinking of? "No, wait, I can't. The Doctor..."

A fuzzy blur in his mind, Carmodi's face, a shudder through his heart and... no.

Not again.

"You go if you want. I must help him."

"Fitz!"

"I've been engineered to love you, Carmodi. With the Doctor - it's the real thing."

Fitz pushed past Carmodi and set off at a run.

- Paul Ebbs, The Book of the Still. Also notable for the revelation that Fitz is equally (un)attracted to the Doctor and Anji, and the dream where Fitz and the Doctor get married...

No one can convince me that the Eighth Doctor doesn't swing that way, at least some of the time. He's probably just too nice to do anything about it, except be all unconditional.

You need to read [livejournal.com profile] kateorman's The Year of Intelligent Tigers, where he (sort of) has a relationship with a musician called Karl. I'm reading it now and it's gorgeous.

Fitz is a bit messed in the head, but lovely for it. *adores Fitz*

Is that the same author? *feels vaguely awed* So tempted to friend the lj, after a brief look.

Definitely next on my list of books to find. *grin* And another excuse to go traipsing through used bookstores.

From what I've seen so far, he is that. More reason to find the books, as if I needed another. :D

Wow, I didn't even know that Kate Orman had a new book out, can't wait to get that. She's my favorite of the NA/MA/EDA writers. I'm also just working my way through the 8th Doctor EDAs, and am half way through to John Peel's "War of the Daleks" (my God is it bad.. I'm not sure why I'm insisting on reading it through-- the sick completionist in me). I couldn't resist jumping ahead to "Seeing I" by Kate and her husband Jon Blum (now that was a good read-- Doctor torture just is so much fun).

I actually met Kate and Jon way back in 1996 at a con in Chicago (this was also their first meeting, and let me tell ya, it was definitely love at first sight :) Also got to meet Paul Cornell (and I'm so PO'ed that I can't seem to find find my copy of "Human Nature" that he signed for me).

Wow, okay, I'm embarrassed, Kate's book came out in like 2001. Putting it in my Amazon shopping cart now :)
