Things that please me today:

We did Christmas a week early because connorbeast was up for the weekend and my housemates managed to get me Doctor Who stuff I did not already own! Including one of Mad Uncle Larry's About Time books, which goes into enough obsessive detail about every episodes that I had to rush to Amazon and order the Fifth Doctor volume. I can never have enough obsessive trivia about Five. (And Turlough, and Nyssa, and Tegan, and even Adric, and incidentally I found out the other day that Mark Strickson and Matthew Waterhouse were both 20 when they started in the show and that's just weird. I had assumed Adric was about 13 and Turlough about 18.)

I finished mainlining my yuletide source and did the background research I needed and there's a particular bit of historical info that fits perfectly. So I'm psyched about writing it and it should be finished by tonight. This is my third year doing Yuletide and the pattern seems to be:
- get assignment.
- tear out hair, wondering how I could have signed up for this fandom.
- revisit source, fall in love with it again, feel very happy about the whole thing.
So, hurrah! Also it dovetails into something I might write for dw_santa. Now, if I could get an idea for femslash_santa, we'd be set, but my recipient for that has asked for some pairings that I really love, so it's all good.

Hey, today I was looking at Doctor Who novels at a used bookshop, and I saw a Turlough novel and thought of you! :-)

According to the Doctor Who companion book, Adric is 15 and Turlough is 20 (although what he's still doing at public school, I don't know). Tegan's 21, and Nyssa 18. Those are from the character outlines by JNT from before they're cast.
