Subversive music videos
Apr. 24th, 2003 06:18 pmI've finally figured out who's to blame for my love of slash and general boy-on-boyness. I always figured it has to be genetic, because I've thoughts boys together were hot since I was 11 or 12. I was wrong: today VH1 has been running non-stop videos of Robbie Williams, including stuff of him at 16 or 17 when he was in Take That. Now, these guys were my obsession when I was about 11 - yes, coincidentally about the time my little pre-pubescent brain started going "boys should make out with other boys and let me watch".
Could be this was obvious to everyone but me, but... my god, all of Take That's videos were just ultra-softcore gay porn! Tons of slow-mo, black and white pictures of pretty boys in the rain just pouting and looking angsty. and the clothes! I don't remember 1993: did all guys wear cut-off t-shirts and furry coats? Cause maybe I'm biased and it just looks gay in retrospect, but Take That could have been on Queer as Folk. Seriously.
I could sue them for millions. "Evil boyband made me a slasher!" Except without them I'd have missed out on so much hot slash and subversiveness over the years, so I probably owe them money.
I feel like digging out some of my old CDs now..
