Where do you guys get/post your fanfic recs? I've got my shiny new palm pilot, and I want to load some fic onto it, but I've lapsed in my reading lately and I'm not sure where to find stuff.

I'm looking for: Doctor Who, Buffyverse, House, Smallville, Harry Potter (esp. Remus/Sirius, Harry/Ron, Harry/Ginny, Harry/Cedric, trio fic, gen, or H/D that isn't all angst and woobie-Draco), Firefly (preferably Mal/Simon, Mal/Kaylee or Kaylee/Jayne, or gen) - but if there are general recs communities other than crack_van, that'd be excellent, too.

Since newsletters -- at least su_herald and the_cortex -- just list everything they find, I'm often disappointed by the quality of stuff I find there (though they are useful) so I wouldn't use them as *recs* per se. ff_friday has lots of good fic. I haven't read much of the_pretty_fits so while I would certainly mention it as a source of Mal/Simon I have no idea what the quality percentage found there is.

To be honest, I rarely read non-Canon pairings so can't really comment on any of those, I'm just passing on some of my resources.
I have to say that I've found some fantastic fics via both su_herald and the_cortex. I also get a lot of recommendations from individuals on my F-list, many of whom are writers, and they're usually very high quality works. I'd need their permission, though, to pass on any links :)

Fair enough. I definitely mention newsletters/fic comms when people are seeking fic generally, but since I am so often disappointed by the stuff I find via su_herald I'm wary of listing such resources when someone is specifically looking for recs.

Have you tried recsrainbow? -- not a recs community per se, but it tracks updates in hundreds of recs sites/journals. My Espresso Recs (http://www.tavia.co.uk/recs.asp) has Buffyverse, plus some Smallville, Harry Potter & Firefly (under Other).
