My review of The Twin Dilemma, in eight words or less:

Awful, awful writing. But Six is quite brilliant.

I loved his quoting of poetry, and the constant showing off, and his hatred of Five (much though I adore Five, it amused me very much to hear Six complaining about his 'effete', 'repressed', 'practically neurotic' predecessor). And aw, calling Peri Tegan by mistake and then muttering "Tegan..." and staring sadly into middle distance as tinkly This Is A Sad Moment music played. I think Six always hated Five for not shagging Tegan when he had the chance.

I sort of ship Six/Tegan (helped along by a quite nice story in one of the Big Finish anthologies where Six tacitly tells her he loves her and she has to let him down gently and say she's met someone. I teared up.) And Six/Peri.

I also noted with interest that Six drops into a Manchester accent when he's annoyed, making him sound a bit like Mrs. Slocombe off Are You Being Served. His mysterious human mother, no doubt. And it raises the possibility that the Doctor's from a bit of Gallifrey that has an accent remarkably similar to certain parts of the North of England, and he only speaks RP because he went to posh Time Lord uni. ([livejournal.com profile] connorbeast suggested a Pygmalion type comedy where, as first years, the Master and the Rani taught him to speak 'proper' for a bet. "By Rassilon, he's got it!")

Maybe I'm going to like Six a lot more than I'm expecting to.

Awwww. I love instances of Doctors still being in love with someone they knew in a previous incarnation (like Five wondering where Romana was in "Castrovalva"). It is one of my sure-fire Doctor Who kinks.

Heeeee. And of course, Tom Baker's from Liverpool, though you'd never know it from his posh accent...

Me too. I'm doing classic Who for [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 and have partially-finished Five/Romana II and Eight/Romana II ficlets on the go for that. I loved [livejournal.com profile] calapine's Nine/Nyssa fic, too (and am very tempted to do Nine/Turlough given the whole shared orphaned-by-war thing they've got going)

I have that same problem. "You're from Liverpool? From Liverpool? Really? But you talk like a pansy southerner!" Gee, thanks.

Also, Doyle: if you write Pygmalion uni fic I will just die from happiness. Pleasepleaseplease.

You mean, you don't talk like the Beatles? :-)

Sadly, no. I am nowhere near as cool as the Beatles.
