Here a stat, there a stat, everywhere a stat stat

More flashficathon fun.

Pairings requested but not written:

Angel/Lorne
Angel/Xander
Anya/Xander
Buffy/Faith
Buffy/Spike/Xander
Connor/Dawn
Dalton/Spike
Dawn/Lilah
Ethan/Willow
Fred/Willow
Giles/Wesley
Giles/Willow

Tara/Wesley
Willow/Xander

Most written pairings:

Spike/Xander (6)
Angel/Spike (4)
Buffy/Spike (3)
Giles/Spike (3)

The list of written fics in full. The first figure is the number of requests for that pairing, the second is the number of stories written. If there are no numbers, there was one request and one story.

Andrew/Xander (2) (2)
Angel/Buffy/Spike (2) (1)
Angel/Cordy
Angel/Dawn
Angel/Lindsey
Angel/Spike (7) (4)
Angel(us)/Wesley (3) (2)
Angelus/Willow
Anya/Tara (2) (2)
Anya/Willow (2) (1)
Buffy/Fred
Buffy/Giles
Buffy/Spike (3) (3)
Buffy/Wesley (3) (2)
Buffy/Willow
Connor/Wesley (2) (2)
Dawn/Spike
Ethan/Giles
Faith/Spike (2) (1)
Faith/Wesley (5) (2)
Fred/Lindsey
Gavin/Lilah/Lindsey
Giles/Spike (3) (3)
Joyce/Spike
Kennedy/Willow
Lilah/Wesley (2) (1)
Spike/Wesley (3) (2)
Spike/Xander (9) (6)

ETA: so by my count that's about 35 stories requested but not written. I feel all guilty about not writing both my pairings now (one of the Spike/Xander requests was mine, to be written for [livejournal.com profile] sarahsworld)

I love your stats - they make me feel so much less like a maths nerd ;)

Lol. Oh, I'm a total maths nerd. Be glad there are no pie charts with these.

Is it a bad sign that my first thought was "ooh, pie charts!" My poor frustrated inner mathematician. She got so excited when we took double maths A level, little realised that that would be *it*, and we'd never do maths again. And now she's stuck studying Politics. *mwhahahaha*! ;)

Mmm, I did double maths A-Level too, then my college course had a year of maths to wean me off gently. Apparently you need quite a lot of maths to be an astrophysicist, who knew?

By the end of my second year of Mechanics/Applied Maths A level, I was utterly sick of maths and vowed never to do it ever again, so I went entirely cold turkey and was totally happy doing so. Until, in my first year at Uni, one of my flatmates was doing - oddly enough - astrophysics, and later she changed to maths, and I got all nostalgic for it. Now I look back on it through rose tinted specs. Well, on the pure maths anyway. Applied maths is still a tool of Satan sent to torment me into a fit of insanity, evil, and violence against my fellow humans.

Ooooh yes. :growls at Applied Maths:

I mean honestly, who really needs to know about the velocity of a car travelling around a banked track!?

[identity profile] marguerite-26.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmm... Pure Math. My favorite.
I had no idea there were so many math lovers out there. Where I went to school you needed to do math to get a degree in Computer Science. So I went to do a BMath. I ended up preferring the Math courses. I dropped the CS and got a degree in Combinatorics and Optimization.

My mom still asks: "What's the name of that thing you took in school?"

Thanks for all the stats Doyle. I would actually prefer a bar graph to a pie chart.

My inner econometrician is whining for the T-Stats.
::Thumps inner econometrician::
Thanks for the stats. Gotta love that yummy raw data-y goodness.

Heee. Remember that four of those pairings never got a chance to be written (damn ditchers!) so your stats will change!

Re:

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's so bad that I have plot bunnies for both of your requested pairings...

[identity profile] circe-tigana.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
I see nothing bad about it! Write away :)

[identity profile] marguerite-26.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with Circe. Write lady! Write!
She who gets ditched deserved lots of fics.

Indeed! I need extra-loving!

Sometime I think that maybe you are milking this ;)

[identity profile] thefakeheadline.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. You know, sadly? I'd gotten stats together, too. And for the Sunday100, which is the nerdiest thing ever. I've come to the conclusion that Buffy/Spike is very popular - just shocking, eh? ;)

I probably would feel guilty about not writing one of my pairings, but I had no idea who one of the characters was - I had to google his name. And I'm an obsessive nerd about this show, so that guy (Dalton) is just the definition of obscure.

Re:

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, my poor Dalton. I miss him with his bookishness and his bad Latin translation...

Re:

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, you have stats for the sunday100? Was thinking of doing some myself... what other pairings are popular, besides Spuffy?

[identity profile] thefakeheadline.livejournal.com 2003-04-24 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The overall stats thus far are:
25 Buffy/Spike
10 Wes/Faith
8 Buffy/Angel, Wesley/Lilah
6 Angel/Wesley, Willow/Oz, Xander/Andrew
5 Angel/Cordy, Buffy/Giles, Spike/Dawn
4 Angel/Spike
3 Buffy/Faith, Buffy/Xander, Spike/Faith, Willow/Tara, Xander/Anya.

Interesting (um, well, to me anyway) that het is so much more popular than slash in this thing. There's 111 het, 95 gen, 23 slash, and 15 femslash (by my count, anyway). So, huh.

Angel and Spike are tied at most pairings, with 9, 'cause they're both big man-whores. Xander and Cordy both have 8, Faith and Willow are at 7, and Buffy's at 6.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2003-04-25 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. Man-whores. I would've thought either gen or slash would be most popular. Interesting...

Someone missed my Spike/Lorne request.

Didn't get written :(

Sad me.

Damn! Knew I missed some...
