A year later Giles is dragged out of bed at five in the morning by someone hammering on his door, and he's not even surprised that it's Ethan because he always expected him to turn up on his doorstep one day - it's what Ethan *does* - but this time he has someone else with him, an 18-year-old girl who Giles has never seen in his life, even though she claims to know him. And Buffy's on the phone from Rome warning him about the trick Ethan tried to pull there, how he worked some kind of magic to make Buffy think his accomplice was her sister, and this Dawn girl is crying on his sofa and telling him things she couldn't know, but she must be in on whatever Ethan's game is because nothing else makes sense... And then it sort of descends into angsty Giles/Ethan/Dawn, which is probably why I've never written it *g*
