Sep. 28th, 2005 02:41 pmAm having a well-earned skive for 5 minutes, as have been busy all day. So much paperwork! My current temp job's in the office of a building site, not sure whether I've said that before or not. The pay's not brilliant but it gets me out of the house, to parrot my mother, and the people are nice. Though I could do without the wee 17-year-old builders, who come in two stripes: the ones who scuttle in awkwardly, blurt out "canyoufaxmytimesheetpleasethanksbye", throw the timesheet on my desk and scuttle about their merry way, and the ones who swagger in like John Wayne, toss the sheet down and drawl "what about ye, wee darlin', can you fax that for us?". I object to being the wee darlin' of boys five years younger than me.
Using my Turlough icon because I just got an email from someone ending with "call Turlough on [number] to confirm the meeting arrangements." I had a fangirl moment. Oh, and yesterday I got to have a friendslist fangirl moment when
marymac got a book of short stories called Temps and I spotted
rozk's name in the author list.
ETA: dammit. I've just been told I've got to train somebody tomorrow (my boss announced this and when I looked surprised he added a slightly guilty "didn't your agency mention it?" No, they didn't.) Looks like they're being sensible and getting a permanent person, not a temp who might leave without notice. Good for them, less good for me. Just when I was all used to it here, too.
