[livejournal.com profile] wisdomeagle's been doing this for ages and it's a great idea, so I'm thieving it. And since it is only 10am, slightly fiddling with it.

Gleee!
1. Sims Nightlife! I have vampires and cars and nightclubs and swanky stuff. Nine and Rose have done teh 'woohoo' in a yellow sportscar. Three times. And then [livejournal.com profile] marymac thought I was talking about fic I'd written and got scared.
2. I bought the Short Trips Companions anthology (Doctor Who short stories from Big Finish) and loved it. There's a hilarious Eight/Charley-shippiness-plus-Vicki-and-William-Shakespeare fic story I loved and one where Romana II is cross that Four won't do sex with her and this is why she's dressed as a schoolgirl in City of Death and every One story has Ian/Barbara OTP. It pleases me much.
3. [livejournal.com profile] loneraven has gorgeous new girl!Doctor fic.
4. The massive spider is vanquished from the bathroom and we can use the shower again. (I am deriving glee from this despite it taking three 22-year-olds to get rid of one spider, and that we left it there for about 12 hours because we were scared to go near it.)
5. Watched some more of Dalek Invasion of Earth on my lunch hour.

Three things I did well today yesterday:
1. Was on time to work even though this meant getting up at 7:30 in the morning, which is about four hours too early for me.
2. Only got the company's name wrong once on the phone. (It's not my fault it sounds too like 'Graham Norton')
3. Overcame social ineptness/phobia and was talky with work people, who are Nice.

Two things I look forward to doing (better) today:
1. Working on v. late Adam/Mickey fic.
2. Writing fic where girl!Doctor meets Barbara or Turlough or Jo. Or all of the above.
3. (BONUS) Providing my PC card arrives, fixing my net connection and uploading DW clips (I've already clipped Turlough's exit from the series in order to pimp my OTP)

I love Sims Nightlife. Unfortunately, it doesn't run very well on my computer, which I refuse to admit is sadly ancient (it was four years old in June and still has its original 800 mHz Celeron processor.) Whenever my Sims go anywhere where there's a lot of people, everyone starts moving Silent Movie Style.

That collection sounds like the good (semi-hemi-demi-canon) crack. I love the proper stories, because they really are just official fanfiction.

Eep. Huge spiders scare me, too. Though am alright with smaller ones, because otherwise I'd be scared whenever a daddy-long-legs was in the house. But it is the touching them, isn't it. *shudders*

Adam/Mickey is hatedcharacter!love.

I'd love BF to be able to do an anthology where the writers aren't so rigidly restrained by having to put things back the way they found them - there's a very funny story in the Companions anthology with all the companions in a Survivor type situation that has to resort to an "it was all a dream" type ending so as not to really screw up canon by killing off all the Doctor's companions except Sarah-Jane.

I've ordered two more of the short story books. Hope they're good.

I have one of the paperbacks - Short Trips and Sidesteps - and the Christmas and Day in the Life anthologies, and they are love. I especially like ones where Four gives Romana his last Rolo, and all the Christmas ones where they gatecrash the recording of Do They Know It's Christmas? and Five and Turlough try to buy Xmas presents for Tegan, and really whacked-out creepy ones with Ian and Barbara... oh, I should review them all.

Do! Do! I've already ordered Short Trips and Side Steps and I'm planning on snapping up all the other ones as soon as they come up on Amazon new&used (£15 each is a wee bit much to buy them new)

I really want the Five and Turlough Christmas shopping one.

Yeah, that does limit what's able to be done. And the "it was all a dream" only works if there's something special in that concept.

Oh, I love The Chase, for three main reasons - the comedy Daleks, Ian and Barbara's One True Love and William's Hartnell's magnificent dialogue flub of "you could end up floating around in Spain!"

It's a fairly fanwanky premise, that Romana was able to regenerate five times in as many minutes in Destiny of the Daleks because that wasn't Romana I at all, it was the TARDIS nicking her body in order to seduce the Doctor... only, as [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast points out, Time Lords obviously *can* choose their appearance like that or you'd think Four would notice something was up. The real Romana is held prisoner in the wardrobe room until the TARDIS arrives back complaining "honestly, I think he found Davros more attractive than me". Romana wakes up having regenerated into the form of Princess Astra (which the TARDIS picked because she sensed the Doctor was attracted to the Princess) and thinks things over, deciding that she's just going to have to employ some feminine wiles if she wants the Doctor to notice her. And off she goes to look for a schoolgirl outfit.

That IS fairly fanwanky! (There's a line in the novelization of Destiny of the Daleks in which Four is envious of Romana's Time Lord prowess at being able to control her regeneration to the extent that she does!) But I certainly buy Romana taking Princess Astra's form because Four was attracted to her (there's definitely a vibe between them in Armageddon Factor). And I love the idea of her wearing the schoolgirl outfit to get the Doctor to notice her! Hee.
