(no subject)

I am torn. I've been meaning for a while to see the movie version of I Capture the Castle - because Mark Blucas is in it - only this weekend I finally got around to reading the book. Now I don't want to see a movie version, ever, because I loved it so much (*) and it's *perfect* in my head and I don't want it wrecked and no matter how good a movie is the characters won't look like they do in my head and bits will be changed/left out...

*imdbs*

Dude, Rose Byrne's in it too?

...I must see. I'm so weak.

But I'm not masochistic enough to look for the no-doubt awful fanfic.

For all of ten seconds.

Squee! Squee! That's one of my favourite books. It's just so sweet and funny and sad...

Maybe we should write our own fanfic. I've never seen any. The film is good, reasonably true to the book. Rose Byrne is especially good, which is important for Rose (Mortmain)'s character. I didn't know you liked her...

I think she does marry Simon, in four or five years when she's grown up a bit more. :)

Oh, and tell me if you find any good fanfic...

Your instincts are correct. The film was okay but that's about it.

I've not read the book.. but I hear the film's not very good. :-/ Hope you're not disappointed!

As a person who hasn't read the book, but loves and owns the movie, I encourage you to see it. It's not the Greatest Movie Ever Made or anything, but I really felt that the actors chosen to play the roles brought life to the characters and made it great fun to watch.

And if that won't convince you...Pretty Blucas.

I love that book! And yes, I think she marries Simon, no one can tell me otherwise!

Anyway, the movie is good and the actress (Romana Garai), for me looked like the Cassandra in my head... although the guy playing Simon wasn't the guy I was expecting.

This is an old favorite of mine and a frequently given gift book at Christmas for friends. I liked the movie. It made me go back and read the book again.

The movie isn't terrible. And Bill Nighy is in it.

Yeah. And my poor copy of 'The Great Reform Act' will never be the same.
And she's not mentioning the look of utter disgust that followed my saying 'I can't remember'.

Romula Garai is gorgeous in that film. Pity she's gotten overprocessed since. It's not too bad, well-filmed.

I read that book when I was ten (directly after reading '101 Dalmations'!) and have loved it ever since. I can't light a candle without thinking of the ending.
