Wow, it's easy to get out of the way of posting. Especially when you have nothing especially interesting to say. Err... let's see, what have I been doing apart from watching old school Doctor Who - allow me to pimp [livejournal.com profile] who_otp, where no pairing is too bad and wrong - and writing a [livejournal.com profile] femslash_minis assignment that keeps trying to be Dawn/Giles, somewhat disqualifing it as femslash.

Ooh, I made a car. Well, not made in the sense of putting it together. Because that would be bad, given my track record at school in anything that involved me being practical. But I designed and set up a vehicle wrap for my boss's company car. He wanted bright. Dear lord, it's bright. I'll be picspamming some time this week.

I managed to miss Lost on TV. Which is not a problem since I have them all on disc, I just need to sit down and watch the damn pilot and the important Shannon bits because I have a Boone/Shannon fic I need to get out of the way before my brain will let me do anything. Ditto the Roseficathon story I've started three times and which has starred three different Doctors thus far.

(Speaking of Classic Who, which I think I might have been a few paragraphs up, though am too lazy to scroll back - whyfore the Horns of Nimon hate? I've only seen the first two episodes but it has a frankly hilarious monster, Romana in a riding outfit and the Doctor giving mouth-to-mouth to K9. Stupid, yes, but it's vastly more entertaining than The Ark in Space, In My Humble Probably Deserves To Be Ousted By Right-Thinking Fandom Opinion.

On that note, [livejournal.com profile] gwynnega, you seen that one? Because Romana's so loved-up it's not even true. And she gets her own sonic screwdriver, which makes Four feel very inadequate.)

Everyone wants to write Dawn/Giles! Which is to say you should do it, 'cause I'm pretty sure there are only two stories out there and I wrote one of them and you recced the other. ;)

Who fandom seems to hate anything and everything just from some sort of tradition of hatred, I think.

You designed a car. I am inordinately jealous.

Is there an episode that doesn't send Who-fandom into slavering hatred? Or maybe that's just because I've been reading r.a.dw too much lately.

The Horns of Nimon is ridiculously cheesy, granted, but it's fun.

Of course, while I can identify stupid things in episodes, I can't think of a single episode of the series, classic or new, that I just hate. Even the more painful bits of Trial of a Time Lord.

Who hate Nimon? They are clearly Silly, for it is a fantastic story of Fun and Glee and Romana gets her own sonic screwdriver. Yes.

Two words: Genderswitch, *now*.

Horns of Nimon is actually the only Four/Romana II ep I haven't seen! (Ooh, do you have a copy of it??) She gets her own sonic screwdriver?? A lot of people seem to hate much of that season of Doctor Who - they think it's too focused on humor and Four/Romana, which are the things I love most about it!

I only have it on video, sadly, but I think you'd like it - Romana is once again all dressed up as if some dodgy roleplaying has been going on before the opening titles. She's made herself a sonic screwdriver, which the Doctor promptly tries to steal since it's nicer than his. At some point he congratulates her on making a point that he hadn't thought of and she just stares up at him in besotted adoration and sighs "oh, you *would* have thought of it eventually, Doctor..." And she gets very impassioned when the pilot of the ship they're on goes back no his word and leaves the Doctor behind. I believe she calls him a weasel and demands "how dare you abandon the man who just saved all our lives!" ([livejournal.com profile] connorbeast and I chorused "...the man I love!" because it really did sound like that was what she was going to say.)

The Doctor hugging K9 as they're about to die - and producing a 'first place' dog show rosette from somewhere - is very cute, too.

Good times all round.

Oh, I must see it immediately!

Wait until you see "State of Decay," in which, when Romana comes up with some brilliant deduction, Four tells her, "You are wonderful," and she looks entirely too pleased... :-)
